Cruise-control and Fibre Optics

The chrome button on my cruise went missing in about 1976 or earlier and I purchased  a new replacement arm in the 80's.  Unfortunatley the new arm was black plastic and I never replaced the original with it,  ie, it is still in the consol where I found it recently.  I am obviously looking for a replacement, be it new or used, and would purchase the button, the arm or the entire cruise control system.   While I'm at it has anyone any idea how to remove the lower side S. D. chrome from my car without bending it.  There are sixteen pieces  therefor sixteen chances for a bend.  We had it off in the 70's however I cannot remember what we did and I woul'd prefer to repaint the car with the chrome off.  Thanks for any information, Doug.  PS,   I am also going to remove the fibreoptics.  Is there anything I need to know prior to removing with respect to the circuits as they work at this point.  Thanks again, Doug.
