For sure in 64 and 65 they did. I have always thought there was no 62 or 63 409 Pontiac but there has been discussion here that they do exist as a factory built car.

We have the 409 expert as a member on here, Aubrey Bruneau and he can correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think there were 409 cars in 1962 but for sure 1963 is the first year of the 409 in Canadian Pontiacs.

This car had the shipping notice for car, and the original deal, from the dealer ship The original owner paid 2730.00 and a 57 Pontiac for it! Those are correct emblems on fenders...
Just got back from Ontario. I looked at this car on the weekend. I also saw it in Barrie when it was red and before restoration about 7 or 8 years ago. The guy had all the documents. This car is real and very nice, but he did a lot of panel replacement (documented with photos) to get it that way. You could get the 409 in the Pontiac in 63, 64 & 65. You could get the 340, 400 and 425 Hp versions in 63 & 64 for sure. Not sure if the 425 was available for 65. Regardless 409 Pontiacs are very rare.
My 1965 Owners Manual shows 2 versions of the 409. 340 HP @ 5200 RPM and 400 HP @ 5800 RPM. Torque is shown as 420 @ 3200 and 425 @ 3600 respectively. The 400 HP Motor is described as "special cam" and 11:1 compression ratio. The 340 is 10:1 compression.
My 58-66 parts book shows the 409 available for 64 in 340,400 or 425 horse.
For 65 it shows 340 or 400 horse.
No mention at all of a 409 Pontiac before that. I don't doubt what you guys are saying about them being available sooner, but why does the parts book printed in 66 not list a 409 until 64? It's not an old outdated book, and it's not so new that it wouldn't have that info.

Here are some other Pontiac pictures I got at the Fleetwood country cruisein & the Barrie flea market a few weeks back.

That 57 safari wagon gets around, I've seen it at Thornhill and Etobicoke in the last month. It is a pretty cool survivor, the cargo area has a few pieces of period luggage and a neat picnic basket and magazines and what not. Seats have Mexican blankets over them. As I recall it is a west coast car, at least that's what the dealer plates says on the tailgate.
