I ran across the '69' code as well and was wondering about the '1', but it is definitely on the plate. There is enough "silver" poking through in spots on the car I looked at that I was pretty sure that was the original colour. (now red)
Here is my first post to this forum. The car spitfireal is referring to is mine. he was doing an appraisal for me as I've just purchased it. I've got a 69 2+2 convertible and now also a 69 Parisienne convertible. I'll try to post a picture of the 2+2 here. I don't have any yet for the Parisienne.
The plan is to drive the Parisienne while I restore the 2+2 over the next couple years. I'll likely be making more use of the site in the coming months but I do check it from time to time every couple weeks.
The "hood insulation" is no longer required after fixing a nasty tranny leak from the front seal of the powerglide.
The car looks nice in pictures but does need a lot of work to make it right. The previous owner did a lot of rust repair but there were several shortcuts taken that I don't like. I'll be doing a frame off restoration beginning this fall (hopefully). I'm sure I'll need some advice form others in this forum as I get into the job. I particularily like the pictures of the rotisserie fabricated by a site member.
