I am not sure if this is old news but I found this out today, no G8 for Canada.

I believe the information identified above relates to an individual importing the US spec model. The list is prepared by the manufacturers based on what they want. ie. no Canadian can buy a G8 in the US, they must purchase from a Canadian dealer.
I saw a G8 at our S&S, it is available from CDN dealers.

Free Trade Agreement; except when a Canadian citizen wants to get a good deal then it's No Trade Agreement.

I think that is the list for cars bought new in the US that are not allowed into Canada from the US. It need not necessarily no G8 for us here. (As stated above...)

It's the same deal with Corvettes.  Apparently the rear bumper has to be modified to meet Canadian standards which are higher.  What is involved is replacing the whole styrofoam bumper structure underneath the skin.  The one for Canadian cars can withstand a higher impact.  What this really means is that GM of Canada was pissed off about all the people going to states and buying them for $20K cheaper than you can here and did something to protect their market. furious

The retrofit kits were getting harder to get for the Vettes. Some of the pieces were on back order just before I left the GM store. We converted a lot of them. It was an easy $1000 job..
