Anti theft

Can anyone recommend a good anti theft system (short of a hidden toggle switch) for old cars like ours? Most of the new ones seem geared towards newer cars with power locks etc. I would like more of an imobilizer than an alarm.

Take your coil wire with you when you leave the car, I don't think most thieves carry a spare one in their back pocket. wink

how about an exposed toggle switch?! no one would think to look for something right in front of their noses...

p.s. does anyone know if MBs mandatory immobilizer would work on our older cars?

I have a alarm with pdl and ign cutout in my 2+2 and silverado
my bud runs a relay for the fuel pump off the amp turn on lead from this cd player
no face plate = no power to the fuel pump

 Hidden kill switch.
 Entry Alarm.
Plus a hidden way to absolutely keep your hood from being opened.

I have a imobilizer in my 70.It's just a break to your starter until you insert a plastic key with some metal pronges. It also has a pretty red flashy light.Mine is mounted to the underside of the dash.Lucky for me I also have one on my pickup that they tried stealing, but couldn't figure out how to bypass the system. In the morning I came out to the hood being up the door open and the ignition on.The best part was there was no damage biggrinbiggrin

I "Club" it. It is visble so that is a deterent in itself. I don't think thieves want to work at stealing something. I think Astro Jet has the best idea however.

The coil wire trick doesn't work as all you have to do is swap a plug lead wire onto the coil and drive away minus one cylinder working..

Not that I approve of their behaviour nor would I ever have anything they do with them but a Hell's Angels Club Member sticker could be the cheapest anti theft device going?. Probably not a good one to have displayed when pulled over by the cops though!.

I think the Hells Angels sticker would create a whole slew of new problems!

I have a basic alarm goes of to hood, trunk or door opening, also kill switch for starter and fuel pump on dash, kill switch in trunk(inside tail light) and have wired it so you have to have the lights on to start it...
Also I own 6 guns and park it beside my bedroom.
This car protected by smith and wessen might be better then h.a. stickers

another thing
don't wire the kill switch to pos,any good theif will just run a wire to the coil from the batt and jump the starter
run a relay off the neg of the coil and use the nc contacts of the relay and ground the common
run ign pos through a switch to the coil side of the relay
you will need power to the relay coil to unground the neg side of the ign coil
