My car is one of 33 Pontiac Luxury Lemans 400 sport coupe ( same drivetrain as GTO ) built late 1971 in Oshawa Ontario and have the Canadian GM sheet to prove. Regards, Pascal.

What set of heads came with the 72 400? Were those #11's

It was a lucy blue 72 Luxury LeMans 400 with a dual snorkle and dual exhausts. It had power everything, white buckets and console, Rally II wheels too. He told me it was mine for $500. I was in high school, no job and no $500! If I'd only known.

If only I had known  you that summer; that car would probably still be residing in my garage.  Lucerne Blue with white guts, one of my favourite colour combos.  I tried to order a 99 WS6 Formula convertible in that combo but the ram air package was not available with that colour.  Stupid GM marketing! furious

 455GTO,

My 400 heads are 7K3's same as 96's in 71, they are 96cc last of the big valves Pontiac HiPo heads. 2.11 and 1.77 that is. Pontiac USA did something stupid in 72 though, there are no end bolts for the exhaust manifolds on these heads and on some late 1971 early 73. God knows why they did this !

Yeah, I had to get a set of 7K3's drilled and tapped to accept the end bolts - what a pain!  Some bean counter probably thought they would save millions in production costs with that little move, obviously not a car enthusiast and I hope he got fired soon afterwards!

The guy who saved money in the GM Corp on those heads must have his million dollar pension by now.
