Anyway I consider GMC's as Pontiac trucks, that's why I have a GMC and not a Chevy Truck. Point of Trivia: back in the 50's GMC's used Pontiac V8's painted red. GMC was headquartered in Pontiac Michigan too.
Sprints were sold from 71 on in both the US and Canada, so they were not Canadian only models, although they came about much like the Beaumont and Acadian did. GMC truck dealers wanted something equivalent to the El Camino so they complained and presto, new model just like Canadian Pontiac dealers got the Beaumont and Acadian.
I looked at at 72 Sprint long and hard several years ago in Edmonton but I really wanted a big block car so I decided to pass. If it had been a "SP" model (equivalent to a "SS") I would have grabbed it for sure.
Excellent link Hillar, thanks for reminding us about this special model. I might get lynched but the details on the 71 and 72 really add to the vehicle, looks nicer than an El Camino. With the GMC emblem on the grille there is no doubt it is a TRUCK!
