I had FUN tonight!!!

Myself and a few other men have been mentoring some teens for almost 5 years. We meet one night a week, do a Bible study/life lesson/discussion and work on some cars. So far, we've run a 4 cyl dirt track Honda, a 4 cyl Honda ice racer, and for the last couple of years, one night a week we've been working on a 77 Firebird with a 350 Chev/TH350 for 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Tonight we got to try it out. A local Christian man has a private strip of blacktop just over 2000 feet long, and he allowed us out there to let 'er rip!

The car is no killer, but 350, healthy cam, alum intake, 600 Holley, 194 "fuelie" heads, headers, 4000 stall converter, 4.10 posi. We likely made about 25 1/8th mile passes with it. It's tons of fun doing that, totally legal, close to home on a private piece of property.  Made for some smiles, for surebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

It's always been my dream to have my own private "strip".
Was this formerly a landing strip?
How far away is the nearest neighbour?

Ha, I wish it was mine Carl!!!

It is still used as an airstrip. The closest neighbour is about 1/2 mile away but they are used to plane noise. Also, the second closest guy is a car nut and one of the other neighbours is a deacon in our church who is well aware of our program. It couldn't be a better setup if we planned it!
