Well the auction closed today. I was high bidder with 5 minutes to go. Someone bid and forced my bid to my max. then someone else bid with 10 seconds left. We did't take it to $20k US. I think it is worth more than $20,000. if you find the right buyer at the right time.
Does anyone believe it is worth more than $30k. based on the info supplied?
Clearly no one here was prepared to spend $20k US, and I would say we are a pretty good cross section of the potential market for this car.
What is a reasonable value?
Just looking for other opinions on what is reasonable in todays market.
Rick

Remember, "The Government" only has money confiscated from us.
As always its worth what one will pay, If it were at our doorsteps to look at/touch/drive someone may pay more, survivor seems to be the name of the game these days but beaumont as much as I like them are a niche market, 20-25 is enough, may bring 30 to the right guy but I doubt it, 70 is out of the question. I bid it the first time then began thinking what it may look like after it arrives not to mention shipping costs/tax/transfer etc...
There was a pretty good 67 SD 350 hp 4-speed down here two years ago @ 30, she spent the whole summer to get 25, like I said a few years back my ash gold 68 was a struggle at 20
Would that same car in a Chevelle not bring $35, or at least low 30's? It seems sad that a Beaumont brings that much less. They should be worth every bit as much as a Chevelle in the same shape based on rarity alone. Then again, that is a Canadian's point of view though.
And with that said, I just checked the "sold" listings on ebay for 67 Chevelles. Wow, I haven't looked in a while. The market is a lot softer than a year or two ago.

market has softened a fair bit down south, but i think 20k is around the right price for that 68... i also think that the market on beaumonts is a bit limited (softer) compared to chevelles...even though they are rarer and documented... the 68 has the intangible 'only original once' going for it, but asking $70k? wayyyy tooooo highhhh.... you can buy a 70 chevelle ss 396 convert, #'s match, red for $25k right now... thats a good buy in a soft market... its always been tough to get your $ back on a professionaly built car (actually closer to 50% loss)...
very soft, it went up quick so it can fall quckly too-everyone is reporting no sale and no lookers, I sent around a 70 superbird in June at $85,000 there was no interest and I believe its still available, last year $100,000 would have sounded cheap.
my bad on the 70 ragtop, it was the vinyl top car in the other link... was too good to be true as a ragtop! (i glanced at the ad, for some reason thought it was convert!)...
Well, I've got some wheels for it (I'll need the caps back Todd!), the mudflaps can be removed when the wheels are switched. I had one of these in Ash Gold-sweet car-also attached is a friens's from 1974-claimed it had an M-22
going through some old post and i saw the pic of the brown SD?,do you have more info on it ? as clints and mines 68 SD was Brown with a gold interior? like the one pictured

It's funny because I made some comments about XXXXX's L-79 Beaumont and there inflated appraisal in another post just like you guys are doing in this post and I was jumped on about trash talking somebody elses ride. I personally think it's good that we talk about these prices because if people tried to price them this way nobody would own a classic car.

The problem isn't making remarks about the value of the cars, the problem is making disparaging remarks about individuals and naming them in the post. I hope you understand the difference.
