RE: 65 sd resto progress

I hear what your saying. What's that tape they use on those TV shows when they put the car back together to stop nicks and scratches?? I think it's just painters tape.
I hate doing windows LOL

Looking good Kelly. Those little jobs are fun when you might only have an hour or two because you can start and leave off at almost any stage and pick right back up on it when you have time again. Love that new shine on everything you're working on. Keep it up.

Kelly looking good. Do you ever start on one thing and get sidetracked and start doing something else. Like putting in a radio before the dash.... or is it outta the way.

Oh yeah.. it seems that EVERY step of the way.. this car is trying to teach me something about patience.. LOL..
the fuel tank install was a bit.. those straps just didnt want to give me another 1/8 of an inch for the thread to poke through..
then.. oh yeah the door locks, oh yeah the antenna wire.... oh yeah..

side tracked.. always..

Thanks for all the positive feed back.. I really love the car.. and with a child on the way.. it may be the last moments I get to work on it, before I have to sell it. LOL

Congats on the baby on the way. You'll be upset selling that.
Are you moving to my neck of the woods. With the lady you told me about that wouldn't move. Welcome to Daddy hood and hopefully you don\'t have to sell it

You will probably have to change the way you spend your money, but you might be able to keep the car. If that's the case, sell the rest, put all of the money in finishing that car and put it away for a few years. At least one would be done.

Are you refering to what's in the bag?  I can't quite make out what that is but my first thought also was like Railskinner said about your fuel tank vent tube.

Oh no!! The breather is missing. Any 64-65 will do. As for the package it depends on the price. You know how it goes. Give me dibs if you go that route. It's tuff to hook up those heater controls with that radio in the way. I've done the same thing. The car looks good. It would look great in my shopbiggrinbiggrinfuriousbiggrinbiggrin

Sand blast the old one and it will look like new. Do you have a good tube?

I have a good tube.. but the gasket is history.. if I find another one used or not, I'd use it.. I need it for a template to drill out the hole as well.

If you can't find a gasket locally I can check the fleet for one. I could build a jig too.

Hang in there!   We have all been discouraged, at times, with our projects!  I have learnt to put mine away, when it gets to me...  Save up some money, and maybe someone can look at it, and give you some encouragement..  Where are you located?

Carl.. it's sooooo true.. I've thought of a few nasty things at some points during the whole process.. and I'm glad I didnt carry through with them..

Mind you.. the 50 or 60 grand could be into my mortgage instead.. hehehehe..

well.. not much moving forward it seems.. every time I start to do something it turns into.. "I need this and that before I do what I started".. so I order it.. wait.. wait... then put in one small part.. and do it all over again..

I had to use a "mini starter" since (in my infinite wisdom) I've got an 11" clutch and the original 327 block isnt drilled for the "cross bolt pattern" of the starter.. so the factory look is no longer an option.. unless I drill the block.. YEAH RIGHT!!!

looking for the hole for the tranny "reverse light" wires.. can someone direct me?
It may have been filled in like the fuel tank vent was.

Does the alternator bracket (for adjustment) go to the intake, or the water pump?  I've seen both..

Wish I had a cure for your starter issue. I thought those blocks had both sets of holes. Strange....

I'm not sure about 65 but for 67 those reverse wires run along the floor, up the firewall, plug onto a grommet/connector combo on the firewall and then on the inside down the firewall and to the harness for the reverse lights that exists there.

If you don't get a reply on the alternator bracket I will look on the microfiche assembly manual at the picture there.

Keep at it Kelly!!! It sure looks good.
