Thanks for posting all the great pics, they are inspiration for all of us. I especially like the engine shots showing that original balancer. My latest project has the small balancer and I'm kinda used to looking at the later style. Didn't know what to think when I first saw it. I think your alternator bracket should go from a stud that does double duty in the top drivers side water pump mount. The stud spaces the bracket out about a bolt width (1/4 inch) from the waterpump to give proper belt alignment. I have my car apart right now to change the water pump so I could take a picture if required.....I also have a 1965...Ahem..Chevelle assembly manual that could probably tell you as well.
Grommet, fuel lines that run from the fuel tank to the vapor tank mounted on the left front fender well. Fully molded with two holes for fuel return lines. Known to fit Chevelle, may fit others.
Thanks guys.. that helps a lot. I found the vent tube the other day and the old grommet was on it. but it looked eliptical to me. I'll take a shot of it later today and post it. My manuals dont give dimensions as to where it's supposed to be drilled through in the trunk. I think the photos give a pretty good reference though.
thanks again again guys. I appreciate it. If there are any photos of water pump mounts for the alternator in a 64 or 65 that would be great. 66 or 67 too.
nice job Kelly ya know i gotta tell you this when i had my first kid i bought a tahoe and sold my 64 skylark ragtop that i had for 9 years.Wasnt practical at all in this case. When i got my dads tr3 sportscar, the highlight of my daughters day was when it was time to go for a sportscar ride! Thats when she was 5.........
Snuck out to the shop and snapped some pictures of the alternator brace mounting on my 66. The brace on it is a three point one,(One bolt goes to the manifold, one to the water pump and the third is the adjustment) all the 64-65s I have seen are two, and when I mock it up with a spare 64-65 it fits best mounted off of the water pump. This is how it is shown in the 1965 Chevelle assembly manual as well. In the 1965 Chevelle(Canadian) Parts book it lists several part numbers depending on whether or not the car had power steering, 62 amp alternator, or L79(probably because of the different balancer I'm guessing). Check out the pictures and let me know if you need any other info....or confusion.

Thats excellent!! thank you so much for taking the time. I enquired to an L79 owner in the states (Rich cummings) and his is on the water pump but the other V8 Chevelles for 65 were on the intake.. depending on CID... I've seen 283's with the "3 point" mount.. so I guess it's what I have on the shelf.. and what fits that' important. Seems like such a small thing.. but MAN!! it going slow.
