Moser 12 bolt

I picked up a new Moser 12 bolt for my 68 SD today. My 68 is getting built on a convert chassis with updated suspension and brakes.
The rear end is stock width with relocated upper ears. There have been companies making arms that bolt or weld on to relocate the upper control arm to eliminate wheel hop in the 68-72 A-body cars. Moser cast the housing in one piece and added extra webbing.
 Here's some pics

We installed a new Moser 12 bolt in a 98 Trans Am a while back for a customer.

It all fit and worked like it should. It sure looked like a nice piece, and the tech who assembled it including setting up the gears said it all went together very nice, just like a stock piece.

Not cheap though, eh?

I sold 3 original 68 and 69 12 bolt housings I had and that covered the price of this housing. Mind you, I still have a bare housing.
Believe me, the decision to go with this rear end was not made hastily. I just hope that it works as well as it is supposed to.

I am going with Metco billet rear lowers and upper adjustable control arms. The front will be tubular with the tall spindle to correct the front end geometry. Aftermarket sway bars and big disc brakes all the way around.

sounds good! i was wondering if you were going tall spindles too... metco peices look really nice... i wish i was into that stuff when my dad was still at work (retired machinist) i would have had him fabbing that stuff for me!! ...my car aint no handler... i still have the original 40 year old front shocks!! i'm starting with a rear sway bar and heavier front bar...interesting how that will affect the ride... biggest improvement i did today was take off my ET Streets and put on regular radials... I've had either hoosiers or ETs on there for the last 12 years...feels like driving on jello!!
