Random Acadian picture

I found this picture last night in an old stack of stuff. I remember taking the pic in a park in Winnipeg, likely in the 80's. What a little beauty. Anyone local here happen to remember this car?

Carl,

I bought a 1967 SD Beaumont here in Ontario (hamilton area) back in 1994, it came from Winnepeg in 1993, the car was advertised for $10,000 or $12,000 in the spring 93 Old Car trader, I also found an advertisement from 1986 when someone sold it to him @ $3600, that guy had bought it from the original owner's son.

Deepwater blue, bright blue interior 396/325 400 turbo, buckets with headrests, console, factory block heaters, in dash tach (not documented), under dash gauges, home built radiator tanks, last I spoke with the owner from Winnepeg he was into AMC's, he sent me a picture of a yellow small block SD believe its Andrews

Heres a pic-remember the car ? it had 15 X7 rally with bias tires when I bought it

I loved that car ! Drove it seven years !

Boy, user name "mikkelson" on here owned a twin to that car about that time. Hopefully he sees this and chimes in if this was his or not. Beautiful car.

As a matter of fact, I think it was his air cleaner lid (and decal) that gave us the stencil to make those decals for the 396 and 427 Pontiacs you may have seen me list earlier this year on here.

I don't recall Steve's car having the headrests but otherwise yes.
Timing would be about right.
I actually thought Steve bought it from the original owner. Had a trailer hitch on it when he got it. The guy used it to pull a camper trailer.

We last saw Steves car in Fort Richmond (South Winnipeg) with centerlines on it.

I had the original air cleaner decals sent to me from the Winnepeg owner attached to a piece of cardboard-they were used to make reproductions, I seen pictures of this car with Centerlines on it. This car is now in Kentucky and owned by another member here.

The car was owned by an 80's year old man until 1985 when his son sold it to a GM dealer bodyman that did a quick paint, sold it to the Winnepeg library guy who added seat covers, drove it until 93 and sold it to a dealer in Toronto, car was supposely stolen from the rail yard, recovered sold at auction, I bought it from a dealer-the V.I.N. tag was homemade, the cowl tag was original, very solid car, complete numbers matching 396/325, Loved that car !

If it is the same car that original owner may be slightly offended by his recorded "age".

Steve could clarify but... my memory says the original owner was probably about 55-60 (so I guess he would be around 80 now). Steve is a painter and did paint the car along with a few mods. Aluminum intake ?, Moroso valve covers & I think maybe headers and ralley wheels.

It was absolutely stone original (aside from the bumper hitch) when he picked it up. I'll tell Steve to chime in on this.

We've been wondering where it ended up. It was a very nice solid car back then.

It must be your old car, the tach was in there but not part of the vintage docs, the paint was poor enamel and the lower rear quarter had a poor patch along with a left front fender damage repair that looked poor. That said it was one of the best bodies I've seen. It had a cast intake and correct carb when I had it but do remember pics of it with big gold moroso valve covers. It had jumper wires under the dash. I loved the car bought it in may 94 for $7250 tax in, sold it in 2001 for $9600 U.S. ($15,000 CDN) I've had close to 300 cars-this is the only one that I can truly say I wish I had kept.

 Happy 40th Todd-last tuesday for me !

If these birthdays keep up around here, we're gonna have to get a Canadian Poncho volume discount on walkers!!!

To think that I spoke a long time on the phone one evening with that Beaumont's current owner, not realizing that not only had that car been in my driveway visiting at least once, but it was the one we used to get the air cleaner decals reproduced. As a matter of fact, I think the current owner even purchased a sheet of those decals off me this past spring!

I spoke with him also, I seen the car on here and being from the states thought it had to be mine, He's a nice guy and will be very interested in this lost link of owner history, I gave all this info to my buyer who never passed it along, I told Jerry this stuff on the phone but now he can actually talk with everyone-its a great car, be hard pressed to find a better one available and at the right price.

Ken,   I posted some new pictures of the 67 Beaumont on my website:

www.freewebs.com/jerhra

The one picture is from when we drove the car to Somernites Cruise in KY and stoped at the oldest Inn in KY (and in the south, I believe) the Beaumont Inn.  The car is getting nicer all the time and is one of my favorite and most reliable drivers.

I went to elementary school with a guy who legally drove his 65 Malibu SS to school in Grade 8.

No, his name is not Jethro!!!

Carl,  I have a 66 Acadian Invader that is going to be a project, after I get my garage expansion done. It is going to need some sheet metal replaced, so I will get some experience at that. Earlier this year I bought 2 Canadian 6 Cyl. engines from Tony Sands, even a couple of Canadian Delco ignition coils.  I think that picture at the begining of this topic looks like a car he sold. At the time, I didn't think I needed a 2nd Canso, untill I started learning more about the cars.  The Canadian cars still don't seem to be appreciated in the States yet for their rarity and the fact they can be documented. Below is a picture of the car Tony had.

Jerry

Sounds like another neat car (as if you needed more!)

I only learned recently that the Canadian coils are different. I can't count how many of those I've thrown out over the years. I see they have the date code stamped on them too. I picked up a spare for my 65 and luckily, it's coded very close in time to my original coil.

Not to slam the Nova, (as I have an SS) but the Acadian is beautiful compared to the Nova.
