My 69 Beaumont

This is the 2nd 69 I have owned. My very 1st car was a numbers matching 69 sd but unfortunately I crashed it and totalled it off. If I had known at that time that I would be working in autobody I would have bought it back from the insurance company and fixed it. That was 26 years ago and I have been looking for one ever since. I couldn't find an sd in decent shape for a reasonable price so I bought the best I could find. After looking at 2 other cars I decided on this one. I made the trip to Edmonton, bought the car and drove it back to Regina. It needs some work but it is in decent shape. It's not a numbers car so I am going to do my own thing with it. I will probably repaint it the same color it is now.

Welcome to the site Greg. Your car looks good. It is getting tougher to find just any 69 Beaumont any more that is in good shape.
Do you have any pictures or info about the original SD you had? You and one other guy on this forum have had one that was lost. If you have anything that you would like to share I would really appreciate it.
 Thanks and again, welcome. Brad

I don't have any pics or info of the 69 sd that I owned. I was a 17 year old punk still living at home so if there are any pictures of it someone in my family should have them. All I remember about the car was that it was white with a blue interior. I have always wondered what ever happened to the car. I will talk to some family members and see if anyone has any pics or info about the car.
Thanks for the welcome guys. I am getting excited about restoring this car so I will probably check this site quite abit for any help that I may need. I will be purchasing parts over the winter and hopefully by spring will be well into this project.
I should probably quit looking up ads on the net for Beaumonts or I might end up with a fleet of them.

...And strongly encourage someone to purchase it from this forum as well!

If you happen to need any parts pictures or info for your car, please feel free to ask. I (along with a number of others on here) have the GM Beaumont parts catalogue and it tends to come in handy.

I have already priced out some new interior parts but I am going to hold out on that. I have a possible lead on a complete interior from a 68 minus the dash. I am looking for a wiper motor and I am also looking for the factory antenna. Someone installed an antenna on the fender. I'd prefer it on the rear quarter where it belongs.

Started the bodywork on the car about 3 and a half weeks ago and it's now getting close for paint. I'm hoping I will have it painted by next weekend. I can't believe the number of hours I put into it in such a short time. I probably put in about 40 hours a week on the car. What made it tough was working 40 plus hours a week at work as well.

Yes, but working on your car is "good work" :)

Yes and I'm enjoying it very much. Infact I'm even thinking about purchasing another project.

I could do that. Next time I think of it I'll take a snapshot of the tag.

Since purchasing this car almost a year ago I have become almost obssessed with it. It wasn't on my mind so much during the winter but once it came out of storage I've thought of nothing else. Funny thing is that other people around me seem more infatuated with the car than I am. When people that I know found out I was doing the bodywork and repainting the car, everyone was upset thinking I was going to change the color from purple to something else. I wasn't for sure certain what I was going to do for a color. The car isn't original anyway so I wasn't concerned about putting the factory color back on which was a blue metallic. I decided to keep it purple and actually ended up making my own color. All the jams, inside of doors and fenders and the underside of the trunk and hood are now painted purple and are installed back on the car and all lined up. Lining up the doors gave me fits but I got them pretty good. I'll put the door rubbers back in tomorrow and then it's ready for the final block sanding.

Got some of the chrome back on the car this weekend. Took it out for a drive and had about a dozen guys stop me and ask me to do their car for them. If they were serious about it I could make a buck but I know better.Anyway here are some pics of the 69 right after i took it out of thepaint booth.
