Purchased a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville convertible 370 HP 455 parts car today !!!

This car has been in the back of my mind for a couple months now, and I had a plan made a month ago. The owner was asking 5000$ and mentioned in the buysell Manitoba that it was powered by the most powerfull 455 available in 1970. A month ago as of today, I went and checked it out, I noticed that it had more rust than advertise ie. holes in the frame and rusty bottom, plus a knock in the engine on top of that ! Before i got there, I was telling myself that it couldn't be the dual snorkels 455 4 bolt main option, same as GTO or Grandprix because, only a handfull of Bonneville came with that option. After checking the #'s on the engine, I got real excited and calmly told the seller that he was asking a little too much for my liking and that he could still try to sell it to somebody else, for his asking price and that I would get back to him later. Well, today I phoned and made him an offer that he accepted ! WOOOHOOO !! The car is mine, and I will be picking it up next week, It's about 50 kms from my place.

Lets hope the owner is not on board, LOL!

There is a TA 1973 455 on eBay for $500 but you got a whole car to part out. I am sure the engine will be free once you are done.

I talked about that car for months on Performanceyears forum and, that's what the guys told me I should pay for that car at the most, so I'm not ashamed of what I paid for it. The 455 on Ebay as a reserve, the price starts at $500, I still got my running/purring 455 in my 75 GP parts car. Pascal

I meant I thought you got a good deal there.

Just thought I'd mention that a 1970 Canadian Poncho was available with a 390 HP 454 V8, so the most powerfull Pontiac B body in 1970 was Canadian built. Smaller car too with less weight.

A member of board here, Astro Jet, has a 1970 Laurentian 454 / 390 HP. The car has about three options. The original owner drove from Ontario to Florida very often and he wanted the largest engine he could get for reliability. This car has dog dish hub caps if you can believe it.

Astro's is a 345 hp car.221 All models were built in Oshawa with LS4 in 1970.Probably very few in the Laurentian model.

So I guess when I took it down to the POCI show in Buffalo I had it airlifted down with a helicopter?

BTW, when was the last time you had your 68 GTO on the road?  Your 72 GTO?

What year was that again??Are ANY of your cars NOT roadworthy? At least I'm in the middle of a restoration,a valid excuse.

I've seen the Camaro on the street and I've been for a ride in the Subaru. weirdface

Also I have seen the 68 GTO and 69 Bonneville Safari close to the road and a picture of the 70 Laurentian at a Cruise.  I have not seen the 70 Cutlass, 72 nose job LeMans Sport or the 70 El Camino though.

I think we are being too hard on poor Hillar, how many cars car one guy drive anyway?
