Have you guys noticed the latest P.O.S on Kijiji posting cars that are way too cheap and using the line "This was my fathers car who passed away four months ago"? Talk about bottom of the barrel scumbag. I've seen at least a dozen cars in the past week with this line. Are people that stupid to fall for these scammers? I'm sure with some effort the perp could be traced. I wonder if this is a local guy or someone in Nigeria..
We had about 10 bogus ads on the wpg kijiji for the past few days. Typical "69 camaro for 5 grand", or "70 cuda for 65 hundered", you know they are worth quadruple that. I emailed kijiji on a dozen or so ads and told them to get there act together.
they all disapeared this morning.

A few weeks ago I replied to an ad on Kijiji.....only to have a good friend tell me be very careful.....It was a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air for 10,000 Mint...I thought something was fishy......I was sent a return message with a virus in it. I reported it to Kijiji staff....This has been an ongoing problem for awhile now. They say they can't track the individual down....only delete ads when notified. Like you said....what a shame to ruin such a positive helpful site. You would think with technology there could be some way to catch these low lifes!
Ya I don't know what the heck those guys on Kijiji are doing all day...do they not see these adds pop up..do they not know they are scams? They need to do a better job.....time to send them some mail.
Ya I had seen that one on kijiji before too, and then I know the other people used to list the done up, cheap cars like the 69 camaro, or the $8000 restored challenger. And then you email them and they want you to send them money and they ship the car out to you, ya okay.
The ad i saw was for a 68 Cuda fastback for $4000. That was a couple weeks back. I thought it was fishy...pardon the pun...when it disappeared and reappeared all over the place. It was the same story, widow selling car.
There is always someone out there trying to cash in on the unsuspecting victim to (un) earn the almighty fast buck!!!! When caught, treat them with the same respect as the victim.....NONE!!!! This pic came to mind when I read this thread..........
Thats nothing-I get it the other way-I post a legit ad on kijiji, a guy asks for detailed photos and tons of "honest" description questions about a $2500 project car, then confirms he's coming to see it, stalls for week, then asks for directions from his house to mine, then tells me he'll be here at 1:30 the next day-I'm working a twelve hour midnight shift so I get up early (4 hours sleep) to get everything ready to show him only to find an e-mail that he'll have to reschedule do to his mother being "sick" I never hear from him again and somebody from this web site tells me he's scared to travel to see the car and find it not to be worth the money ! Hope his mother is OK !
