From the pictures (I had him take a bunch more) it looked good enough to take a chance on it. I will see it when it gets delivered. Got the bill of sale this afternoon and arranged insurance. Monday I will confirm the car carrier. They quoted 7 to 10 days for delivery.
We will know how good a deal it is when we see it.

ak 67 AK: I emailed at 6:00 am Thurs morning and by 8:30 am we had a deal. Wired the cash at 1:00 pm.
You snooze you loose. Or maybe you save your hard earned money.

At the price it was worth a chance since I could use it as a parts car if worst comes to worst. I think the I will beg forgiveness from the "boss" for buying a parts car without her permission.

I think you stole it. That thing would have to be a total pile of junk to not be worth at least that.

Great score, good for you! And sorry for you AK...........

yeah not a biggie...I'm glad someone on here got it! I was wondering if it was a b.s. ad to get the owner to pay up on his debt!...then i saw the 'cancelled' text by the price... i procrastinate on purpose sometimes, it does save me money and space in the garage and work (i'm getting lazier in my old age!hahaha!)... if its something i really want, i'd move on it (like a 67!). I'm tossing up a 350z roadster or an old car driver...not sure if i want to live without the creature comforts of a new car for a daily driver...

Hey Kelly,
We should know some time next week how good a deal it is. How about your 65 ragtop adventures. It sounds like you picked up a car.
Any good?
I have heard rumblings that between us we have more than 4 cars.
What do we need for parts?
I won't know much until next week about the ragtop.

Hi Rick.. well... here's what happened.
I've been looking for a 65 SD rag for a long time.. and I know a couple of guys that have them, but never willing to sell.. or one guy wants so much for a shell that I may as well forget it. 2 weeks ago I get a call from one of the guys (I've known in the neighborhood for over 20 yrs) and he asks me if I want to buy his car. (His is a 65 SD 6cyl Conv.) 5000.00
so I bought it. it's completely apart and needs a total resto.. no original engine or tranny.. but all there.. emblems, interior, power top, etc.. ALL THERE.. and for 5k.
THEN!!!! a day later I get an email from our president in Victoria, Don Earnshaw, about a car on the Island (some of you may have gotten the letter too). A 65 SD Rag V8 car.. numbers matching 283 2spd. 15000.00. what are the chances of 2 coming available in 2 days? So I called, and I was the first guy to call out of over 50 people.. I just got back on Sunday with a trailer full of parts.. It's in peices as well.. A LOT OF PEICES!!!
the engine and tranny is supposed to be fresh. (they're painted anyway..lol)

I may end up selling the V8 car (only 336 made).. just because I'm not a body man, and being into the body on my hard top car for over 30k now.. I know it will be another expensive resto.. well worth it. but the 6 cyl car can become an 8 cyl quite easily.

so I have 3 65 SD's at the moment.. must be nuts hey?

Can't wait to hear the final story.
Hope you are not out a bunch of money.  yikes!

How far, was the car from you?

The car was in Kelowna. I am in Calgary. I bought it sight unseen other than many pictures and discussions with the seller. Car carrier was supposed to pick it up today or Monday. A friend saw the car and GM Vintage Vehicle Services have sent me the vehicle details.

I am not prepared to outline specifics until I see how this shakes out.

There will be a story to follow, sometime in the future.

Rick

Sorry to hear the deal fell thru. These things usually happen for a reason.

Todd, you're right that things happen for a reason. I didn't need the car and was taking a chance. Now that I have my money back!!!! it's OK. Having said that, it p*ss%s me off when someone welshes (sp) on a deal.

Yes, it all sounds fishy. No car is worth the grief like that. I had to walk away from one many years ago for similar reasons.
