RE: 70 Tempest, KIJIJI, Calgary

Here's another one that someone could buy and join the convoy.

One big problem is that kijiji ad, still have no answers to my questions and there is no phone number.

I haven't heard on my response either. The last time it took this long, the ad was bogus.
I have to put in a furnace, so heat or a post car idea I thought about going to the car when we are cold, but the wife said no.

I was talking to my son tonight and I said why don't I just forget the Tempest for now and find a 400 sbc or 454 bbc for the GT. I'll follow the Strato Chief formula, 2.73 peg leg and cubic inches. I'll pass it off as a Canadian GTO, more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I just bought a 400 grille emblem off eBay for 8 bucks. smile

Went and looked today. Talked to the owner but he was out of town, told me to go a head and look.  Couldn't hear it run, he said he inherited it from his Grandmother, and it hasn't run in a while.  Couldn't get very good pics of the interior, but it looks mint.

Body was pretty rust free, bottoms of the front fenders were just starting to peel.  Sorry, no I didn't get the block #'s

According to the 1970 Sales Brochure I  have no 4bbl was available on the Pontiac 350. Engine choices were 250 -6 , 350 2bbl and 400 4 bbl on the Tempest. I have the correct steering wheel for this car in my collection of parts.

Looks really nice though. Now to weigh the new option C2 has provide me a $1,050 Pontiac 455 and THM 400 for use in my 73.

No brainer. Take the post car and it's a nicer sleeper with the 350 badging to drop the 455 and TH 400 into, plus a 12 bolt. I don't know how long you been looling for a post car, but one of the nicest I've seen in awhile.

Wow, that car is very clean.  It would make the perfect candidate for recreating "The Jury", it even has the right pedigree being from Stampede Pontiac Buick.

Great idea Asro-Jet Let's go "halfsies" on it and we already have a 455 waiting in Clinton for it, but like the owner is wont to do, we'll say it is a 400! That 2+2 is going to $15G's anyway.

Even if it was a clone, it would be great to see a "Jury" car out there to show people. I hadn't heard of them till a few years ago, and I'm sure there is a lot of people who would have no idea what it is.

I'll buy you all a Tim's if you come through here on your trip west to pick up cars!

That looks like a great car guys. What we need is someone with a dually pickup and one of those 5 car trailers. We could all pitch in for gas and head west for some of those bargains we keep seeing!

I just pitched the idea to 65 Camino, Hillar, he's in too, 33/33/33 split. It's the cheapest car we'll ever own a piece of. You can draw up the ownership agreement. We'll have an icon piece of Canadian Pontiac History once we do up the tribute car!

So Ken, Now that you went and looked at it and got us all droolin', are you going to buy it ? These Pontiac 350 were good engines, I had one in my 75 FB and sure never let me down...went like snot too ! Although, You could make that Tempest a Storm by transplanting a 455 into it, as previously mentioned.

Pacal you are right on, our original Tempest 2dr. post with the 350 would lay rubber for at least 40 feet, that's why we called it our baby GTO.

Got an e-mail today, this car does not run has been over 6 years since it ran. So basically a good body and not worth $4000 imo.

I was thinking the same thing, Don't think its worth that. Still, it is in good shape, have to wait and see if he comes down in price, maybe.

I'm all over the map this week, thinking of buying another Cadillac tomorrow.
C2 offered me a 455 and this Tempest. I'm leaning towards the Fleetwood though.
