Probably a '72 TNT 400 F/A Carl?. 72 was the first year for free airs and last year for TNT's on the steel tunnel chassis.. Actually they were stock class race sleds and 40 Hp w/ dual carbs on the small 15" track chassis was a speedy sled for the day!. Production quite rare at 1900 units or something like that?.
Again it's a roller so you'd be your own for a motor and other parts it needs.. Basically the value is in the tunnel and mostly it's correct Vin tag, rare model specific glass and steering support etc...really more for a guy who wants to build one of these specific sleds.. If I haven't dissuaded you yet, PM me and I'll fill you in on more..

thanxs but no thanxs, probally over my head, i don't have any sled parts just want to get back into them, just rather have a vintage sled instead of the latest greatest.
Yeah vintage sleds are a wicked ride. Straight away power and speed with no care for comfort and turning ability. I owned a 72 Ski-Doo SS-250 twin Elan , small cc's but man could that baby scream. It reved into the 10,000 plus range and when you did squeeze the hammer, once on the factory pipe (4800 +) it pulled to no end. It was a boggy wheel unit with the first non straight ski hookup (it had a bent ski leg-plastic bushing-capture affair) fitting. The attempt from Ski-Doo was to gain steering control yet allow the multi-leaf springs to work without transfereing the ski wiggle to the bar. Man what a ride it was! Still have the engine, gearbox (duel gears/chain) pipe and air intake and could retro fit any Elan with it. I also have a 77-250 Single Elan- 77 340 Olympic (restored and runs unreal). I guess vintage things run in our blood huh?
that's right your not seeing things!, i have for sale 1 1979 John Deere spit fire in mint condition, its 340 twin air/fan cooled, sled is in great shape for its age no dents and so tears in the original seat, sled is originally from Ontario it was brought here and stored for 20 years its been out of storage since 06 and runs great, its a fast little light sled and takes off like a rocket. my other sled is a 1978 John Deere Cyclone, another great sled in very good condition for the age it was also stored for about 20 years and shares the same story of its original home being in Ontario. This cyclone isn't in as good of condition as the spit fire due to the seat needing recovering a missing back flap and the fact its no longer getting spark, thus it doesn't run. it hasn't ran in a year its still free and pulls over no problem but its not getting spark, i assume its a CDI box but i am unsure could be something stupid i am over looking. but its still in great shape i am some one wanted to get it running or use it for parts.
the millage is unknown because these sleds have no gauges in them i know they don't have a terrible amount because these have been in my family since they were new and willed to me. These hold a lot of sentimental value you to me but i am willing to sell them as i don't use them enough and someone else might as well enjoy them, be great sleds for youths starting out as they are both fairly light and maneuverable . I am negotiable with my price id like to get around 1000 for the pair together, but again am flexible on it i don't really wanna sell these apart unless the money is right, thanks for looking Ian http://fredericton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-snowmobiles-pair-of-1978-1979-John-Deere-snowmobiles-for-sale-W0QQAdIdZ256652673
