Re. SC 73
Here is a post from another forum H.A.M.B. A member there lists a few Canadian pontiac's he has personally seen and wouldn't you know it a 1965 396 is listed. Not proof positive but who would put a 396 2bbl in a 4 dr car as a project?

This is interesting. What's odd about it is the 2 bbl. You could get a PG with the 396 right up to 69 I believe, but 1969 was the only year that you could get a 2 bbl 396 in either the full size Chevy or the Canadian full size Pontiac equivalent. And the 2 bbl 265 hp single exhaust 396 was a big car only option. I have one in a 69 Caprice 4 dr ht.

I always had assumed that in mid-65 both Canadian Chevrolets & Pontiacs got the 396 power to replace the 409. That is until 2002. I met a guy at the GM Oshawa show that brought both a '65 Impala SS 396 4-speed (U.S car) and a '66 Impala Sport Sedan 283. He mentioned that in '65 Chevy did not offer the 396 on Canadian cars once the 409 was dropped. Hmmm.... I've always been looking for evidence to support that assertion.

Based on what we have been finding with production figures the big block cars were low production to begin with.

In 1966 GM Canada offered the 427 up to 425 horsepower on big Chevies & Pontiacs, plus the 350-horse 327 on the Acadians. The Beaumonts just had the 360-horse 396 for the sole big block offering. They really let their hair down ifor '66! They reeled it back in for '67.

Back in the mid 80's a friend of mine had a factory 65 Impala SS with a 409/4speed. It was a numbers matching car and he trded it off on a 70 ChevelleSS with a 350/Auto.(non numbers matching, the numbers came back that it was a 454 chevelle)

I'm still watching this thread for examples to substantiate engine production but am feeling low as my friend in Cape Breton who knows the answers to these questions is failing in health and hasn't responded to my messages for a couple months now..
What's sad is he's a Canadian car junkie like the rest of us here but is full of tumors traced back to his time on the bench and specifically shop parts washer solvents..
We all need to be aware of the true danger of these parts washer solvents that are so called 'cleaned' by service groups who distribute these products..
The reality is these groups take all solvents collected back to their facilities and mix them together to 'clean' them but the toxins remain and after being mixed together are distributed to everyone who has a contract w/ these service groups..
I'm going to start another thread here specifically on this topic but have been waiting to hear back from him on an update first...sadly it looks like I may not hear from him at all?.
