What kind of mileage are you getting with the EFI on your big block?

Well Hillar, now I'm upset. I don't remember that car looking that great and did you forget to mention it only has 31,000 miles on it. If I remember correctly they charged the gentleman for the large tires as an option when they were actually stock with that motor. In any event the car looks fantastic and I would doubt whether there is another one in existence. Doug.

With the 5-speed and 3:08 gears, she turns roughly 1800 at 100kms as the tach flies! I never did wire the speedo. Electric VSS versus the cable driven with the buffer in the head. If I don't play and it is generally all highway miles, approx 23-24mpg. When I did the engine I wanted driveability so I just added the biggest cam I could use with stock valve springs and flat tops. Plus I installed 350ci injectors in place of the 454's. Not sure if it makes a difference as the ecm will control on time as needed anyway.
When I first installed efi in this one, we could still get leaded gas, so the prom, chip, is still the leaded 350ci version still in place. I didn't install a 454 version. Even though she goes well, she ain't no strip hot rod!!! It does well enough like it is and that's ok.  Although I would like to try the 454 injectors with a tweeked prom. (chip) I don't want too much attention, but in a town of 1400, they all know who I am!!!!! Including the boys/girls in blue. blehblehblehbleh

That is an awesome car Hillar! What a sleeper. I would love to have that at a stop light beside one of these new tuner cars. Wouldn't that open some eyes.
Glad you could share some pictures.

Thanks Brad.  I have a pair of 350 fender flashes I often think about substituting for the 454 ones, but I guess that wouldn't be playing fair! devilish.gif

When I do the rear end I'm starting to think about maybe going 3.73's...

That is very neat and interesting car you have with a great history!  It looks yours and mine were both built in October of 1969.  The first 5 digits of the VIN are the model number, that is why yours is different from mine, Parisienne vs. Laurentian.  The sixth digit is the model year, 0 for 1970, and the seventh is the plant number, 1 for Oshawa.  The next 6 digits are the sequential build number for that plant.  If you send me your digits via PM, I'll compare them with mine and see how close together they actually were when they were built.

Nobody says you have to play "fair". 1st car to the finish line wins right? nana.gif
I have 3:55's in my car with a 26" tires. It revs 2200 at 50MPH. The motor runs nice at 2800. I found a good RPM calculator on the interent. I'll post the link in the Lounge.
 Again, great car.

So if it's 'only a 400", I assume that it is the small block Chevy 400 2 bbl 265 hp engine same as used in the Impalas in 1970. Can anyone confirm?

Well, the numbers are in, mine was built 1886 units after Hillars.......Possibly 1-2 weeks later.

Good Morning to You: Great Car ! A bit of trivia-Do You happen to know ?-OR- Do You remember that there were some Parisienne's -OR- Laurentians that were used by the Ontario Provincial Police as interceptor cars, that had all of the interceptor packages on them ?
confused I used to see them on My way up to Toronto-(I was a kid then, ...Well not much has changed...I'm a kid now, just got bigger along with the toys ! )
My question is, I wonder are there any still in existance today ? It would be interesting to find out, & yes, "correct Me if I am wrong",... I "think" some or most were two-door coupes, such as this one...Just wondering if anybody knows.
confused Thanks & Have a Great Day

I am really reviving an old thread, but I wanted to answer.

Yes, the engine was the orange "Chevy" 400 2-barrel small-block. That year GM Canada was showing both Canadian and U.S. production full-sized Pontiacs in the full line brochure, so both the Chevy-Pontiac hybrids and the blue-block U.S. Pontiacs (Catalina / Ventura / Bonneville) were sold alongside each other. I have that brochure, plus a large Canadian model-only brochure with the Strato Chief, Laurentian, Parisienne, 2+2 and all the wagons (Safari, Safari Deluxe, Safari Custom & Safari Estate Wagon). I have many brochures that I got new at the dealerships, but those 2 I bought from Carl Terpstra of Peterborough back in 1986.

Here are a couple of more pics. A repro of the original Dealer decal per another thread, original non slip diff tag, (not sure if original but was on a '68 Biscayne door in the same spot), Pontiac mats, and a working hood tach (for sure not original!!) Plus, I added rear seat entry lamps as it was pitch black with out them. Most of you will know them from the late '80's Astro vans. Added under dash lamps as well. Didn't have them.

I've never seen that style limited slip decal before. Only ever seen the yellow ones in the trunk on Canadian cars.

Never say never...

The posi that is in this car originally came out of a '69 Laurentian 4 door sedan and at the time, I never looked nor took notice what kind of a sticker it did or did not have..? But this '68 Biscayne with a 327, glide and 308 posi had this sticker on the door so I gingerly peeled it off and put in on the door of mine, just because. I peeled another off of another '68 and put it on the door of  my white 2+2.

Back 6 or 7 years ago, my fellow employee at the defunct dealer here had a mini scrap yard of his own at his place. He told me the crusher was on its way and he had a '70 Laurentian or Parisienne there and if I wanted anything, come and get it. Like the dumb ass I was, I should have taken the whole car!!!
It was a RCMP 4dr post car with a rubber mat inside. Can't remember the specifics on the car but the only thing I grabbed was the Certified Speedo and nothing else. It was blue at the time but nothing else about the car grabbed my attention. I don't even recall looking underneath the thing. Guess my head was somewhere else on this one!!!!!confuse

I was  lucky enough to be old enough to have caught the tail end of things when things were really hot there - late 70's/early 80's.  After the mid 80's a number of other venues started to spring up including some in the east end where I lived so it wasn't as necessary to make the trip out to the west end where this Harvey's was located.  These new places would have their heyday for a year or two, but none of them could hold a candle to the original Harvey's.  One came close though, about 5 years ago there was a certain Tim Hortons in Durham region that was the place to go if you were looking for some action.  Lots of rural roads and empty industrial areas nearby made it the perfect spot with lots of choices.  Cars were starting to show up on trailers again like the old days but then the Durham cops and their helicopter started to make regular appearances (I guess they liked the doughnuts) and suddenly I was actually at home sleeping again at 3:00 am on Sunday mornings instead of being lined up with dozens of others seeing some great action.  Some nights it was like something out of the movies, people all lined up with their cars along the edge of the road, one guy even managed to secure a radar gun to measure "trap speeds".  We even had "security", guys blocking off the road at each end to make sure no one mistakenly rolled into the middle of one these and look-outs stationed several blocks away to warn if anyone was coming to break things up.  We never did figure out a way  to counter-act that helicopter though. no I should have been videotaping it, it would have made a great documentary.wink
