Those are phenomenal. Now i want to start building models again. I've got a bunch of kits stored away that need to get built. Not going to be as detailed as those though, just amazing.
That's fantastic! Before I got my drivers license I was huge into model trains. I had a giant layout in my parents basement. Modeling (trains cars planes) is a great hobby. I found the model trains taught me a lot of things-patience, benchwork, painting, wiring, modeling - some things that come in handy with old cars. I always thought I could have one helluva layout in my garage for the money I have into the Pontiac...or a slot car track!

I loved building 1:24 scale cars and trucks. My dad got me going...probably around 68'. I also had all the HO AFX slot cars and I still have a N Gauge Train fetish, still have my N stuff, but never had but a temporary layout.
I have no time for that now, I'm working on a full scale model right now. All the training since 65' is coming into play...I'm serious...models taught me how to take my time, pay attention to detail and the rest will come.
Todd, are you HO scale RR?

That is an amazing pile of work. Very detailed and well done. I never had the patience to get that involved. The best thing I learned from model building as a kid was when all else fails, read the instructions. I still try to build one a year. I'm working on a WWII U-boat that I started last winter.
My huge layout was HO but I also had a small N scale layout as well. I always thought a huge shelf layout in N scale going around a room would be cool. Technology has come a long way since I was into it. I took my son to a hobby shop recently and was amazed at the computer control systems available. The big thing now is having cameras in the locomotive and modeling from the perspective of being in the cab. I tried to get my son interested but it's not as "cool" as Xbox 360...
My son thought PS2 was real cool until my nephew showed up here with 2 12 volt slot car track kits. We put them together as one unit downstairs and raced the pants off that setup for a good part of last winter. Reality sure kicks video stuff, in my old gray haired mind at least!

There's nothing like slot cars. I had quite a few AFX sets when I was young. The best were the "G-Plus" cars. They had super strong magnets that kept them from flying off the track. Ahh-the good old days. Remember going to the hobby shops back then? All those cool AFX cars in those dispay cases.. Model trains running on big layouts. Cool model cars. Where's that time machine..
Todd you can still go to McCormicks in London. He might not have a train display but lots of models and diecasts. I remember going there and Mrs. McCormick minding the store while hubby was coughing away in the back. Used to have older kits for $10 a piece. My dad found an old MPC Pacer for that price*L* Now though he's had the vintage kits at collector prices. Great, now i want to go there to look around!
I've been there. Lots of cool stuff there. Broughdale hobbies on Glenora drive in London is another one. There used to be hobby shops everywhere but not anymore.
