Couldn't post the add, Heres what the owner(hippie type dude) says about the 68 wagon I was looking at. I haven't heard it run, but might be interesting for a daily driver. Hes asking $2900.
A classic...and not to mention, very cool 1968 Pontiac StratoChief "Safari" Wagon is for sale!
This is the ulltimate hipster's retro wagon here....a Chevrolet 327 V8 to power you...and ONLY 86,000 original miles!
Color of this baby is called "sunny mist gold" which translates into a very funky retro green. Body is in great shape...and that 327 V8 roars to life every time you turn the ignition key and runs great!
Interior is in near mint shape - all original dials and meters - no cracks in dashboard - seats have no stains rips or tears!!!
Only one (1) minor point that this classic wagon from '68 needs - a new exhaust system...but thats it and once done you have a classic from 4 decades ago to assault the streets and highways armed with!
And...this classic wagon is rumoured to once have been owned for a short time by...Iggy Pop...in the early 70s!!!

Not Yet!!! I see it everyday on the way home from work....I did offer him $1500, about a month ago, but someone told him that the 327 in it is a corvette motor and wanted the motor for $1000. I'm gonna go see it again, and this time I'll have my camera....I know how much you guys like pics....

Cool! A Strato Wagon. Let him keep the motor and put a big block in it! Gas is cheap now- only $1.08 :)
And maybe a 4 speed, Make it a one of one!!! A buddy has a garage full of 396-454's, now to try and talk him out of one, thats a different story

I stopped by the wagon today and talked with the owner again.... His buddy with a warped sense of humor put the ad up, I guess it wasn't Iggy's car at all...Oh well. Its still a very interesting car and he's still debating on whether to sell it or not. I guess I'll have to show up with cash, that usually changes minds. Heres the link to some pics, let me know what you think its worth, his friend put it up for $2900, but I don't think its worth that, I haven't heard it run yet(needs a boost) and he says it needs an exhaust.

If it's as good as it looks it would be well worth $3K in my neck of the woods. Try to find one in the east, even a lowly Strato Chief wagon - it's not happening. Fortunately for you guys in the west, there are still some decent 60s cars available at pretty reasonable prices. If it were me, I'd snap it up at that price, with or without exhaust.
Well, I guess I will see by the end of the week, he said he's still thinking whether to sell or not. I believe it would be a good car, because low mileage and if it runs as good as it looks, I'll probably own it....Even though i have no where to put it....But then theres the Biscayne..Some guy stopped me on the weekend asked me if it was for sale, I told him anythings for sale for a price...He took my # and told me he'll call me this week. He said his neighbor had one when he was growing up and he always wanted one...I've heard that before...LOL

Cash always changes people minds. Looks like she hasn't been running in awhile, but the body and interior look great.
He said he last ran it about 3 years ago, and it ran great...We'll see

I agree with John. If the body and the under carriage is solid, I would say it's worth $3K, that is if he gets it running and you can confirm that it runs and drives smooth. Just because it hasn't been running for three years you could probably argue it needs a few more things and the exhaust, that could justify knocking about $500 off the price. I wouldn't expect him to go under $2K. Did you check the block code on the 327 to see what it is?
