The local dealer is greedy and wants how much over sticker for that Challenger?

Isn't it illegal for a dealer to charge over sticker in Canada and why many short supply models get cleaned out of our market by the Americans?.
confused

This is what I was led to beieve as well. Apparently there are a couple of ways around this:
1) It seems to be legal if the amount over MSRP is stipulated on the sales contract and the buyer acknowledges/accepts the amount by signing a clause explaining that he/she is aware of the extra markup being charged and agrees to pay it.
2) The dealer puts the car into service with an ownership and sells it as a used car.

I know of the #2 situation which is also used by dealers to qualify for mfg. incentives when they're close on quotas and a good reason to always check 'in service dates' carefully when purchasing new car demos etc..

With the #1 situation, I'm not sure the disclaimer would be legally sufficient and am interested in learning more..
Do they charge $10,000 for undercoating or floor mats to get the amount into the contract or something like this?.

confused

Remember the Shelby cars, on e-bay last year?  you bid to 20,000 or so and if you won, you got to order one, or buy one, for sticker price... Will be the same way, IF GM ever gets the Camaro coming..    They will be disappointed,to roll it out, in a Recession or Depression...

That's why they should have brought out the Camaro fairly quickly after the concept came out. That way they would have had a jump on the Challenger and maybe would have even taken some of the market away from the Mustang, but oh no, they drag their asses until it is to late. No wonder they have to merge with Crysler, so they can figure out how to put out a concept car in a timely manner. It erks me every time I think about it. The factory is so quick to blame other issues.

I know I'm a minority on this, but I have no urge to even look at a Challenger and the Camaro is "ok". Now, if they would have built one of those 2 pictures someone drew of the "new" Trans Am in either the white/blue stripes or the black Bandit style.

Yup. I would give up my Hemi for a new  Trans Am in Refrigerator White (code 11 GM Classic white) with Lucerne Blue stripes and interior.

I've thought about buying a Shelby. Paying over list is not in my vocabulary.

As for picking up a new Challenger at the factory. I asked and the sales person got this weird look on their face and asked "Why" !!!

But now Ray has me looking at a Cadillac...

I've liked the look of the Bullit Mustangs. The things i really don't like about the Mustang are those big ugly door mirrors and the rear taillight panel should be rolled in like the 67/68's.

Although GM will have no formal program in place for the new Camaro, my friend who worked there and passed away had said he would have at least arranged for me to see my actual car being built.  I still have another contact at GM, but I don't know if he has enough pull.  In any event who knows what the future holds now?  Will the convertible (which is the only model I am interested in) even get built?  If so, will it be at a price a normal human being can afford?  Will GM or the Camaro still be around in a year or two?  Only the Swami knows...shrug.gif

Same thing with Chrysler. Will they be a part of GM by Christmas?

If so, do you see them keeping both the Challenger and the Camaro? I don't, which would be a shame.  If this nutty plan goes through, I think GM will just end up multiplying all it's existing problems.  It's not as if Chrysler was running trouble free.  Daimler still owns 20% of Chrysler, what is GM going to offer them, a stake in GM?  What will GM keep?  The minivans and Jeep?  I don't think any of the car lines will survive.  I think they will bundle up the truck division and sell it to someone, maybe the Chinese?  They will have to sell some parts to help pay for what they bought.  What a mess.....

Cool Challenger pics on car carrier.

DSC01416.JPG

These pics were taken going East on the 401 around Hwy #6 Guelph (I thought that was kind of strange this is going towards Brampton) I was on my way to see a 74 SD Trans Am (I ended up buying this car) and happened to have my camera in the car.

DSC01419.JPG

Then coming home the same night, heading West on the 401 and again around Guelph this trailer full was pulled to the side of the road.I pull over and ask the guy driving if I can take a couple shots he replies "I don't care"

At least rustproofing has come a long way since 1970. In 5 years that black one might still be in one piece, unlike the originals!

They are better protected than the 70's cars for sure. I do drive my 06 Charger a bit in the winter, but I pick the good dry road days. Besides I don't care if it's rusted out in 20 years!

For sure do that. You must work for Oakwood? Give me some notice and I'll fire up the grill, or have a few pops on hand at least. I was going to walk over to Oakwood last week and take a pic of the load of Chally's I saw pulling in. Was that you  with the one lone Toyota on the carrier full of Challengers?
