My 2+2 had one option. A rear defogger! A simple car, but in silver with a black top and interior I never saw another in all the time I owned it. I've seen a ragtop with the same scheme, but no HT.

She's barefoot..
She must find it a sweet car Vince!

My second and best big Pontiac (the first was a 63 Grand Prix) was a 65 Parisienne convt that I had for 9 years. Bought it in 87 with 37k miles, sold it in 96 with 67K miles. Completely rust free, mint inside, the best car I ever sold (and I'm sorry I did). I actually started out in the big GM cars with a 56 Chevy wagon, a 63 Impala SS and a 66 Bel Air 2 dr post, all of which I owned at the same time back in the early 80s. But I knew about the Parisienne convt since 1980, and when it came up for sale 7 years later it took me 2 minutes to decide to buy it. Sold the GP soon after.

Hey Vince, I think I recognize that place where you worked on the convt. Did you by chance dismantle a green or gold 69 catalina 4 dr HT there, and a blue 70 Impala sedan? The Catalina, as I recall, didn't seem to have a chassis under it. Anyway, they were there back in about 94/95 but disappeared after that ... to the crusher I assume. I remember the Cat had good tinted glass all around - would be great for my 69 Caprice 4 dr HT if I had it today.

I particularly like the one with the Pontiac dealer sign. That would be about 1981 when I was parts manager there.

I can see why you were wanting this one back. It's a very classy looking car!

That's actually not even the one I tracked down. This is the automatic car. It's likely still in the area here but it's vanished right now. About 6-8 years ago I saw it about 40 miles from here, but never heard of it since.

I agree, very classy looking with the vinyl top and black exterior.

Ahhh, my first b-body, would have been 66 4dr Belair, which sacrificed it's duel exhaust system, battery, and stereo for my 66GP. Got the Belair from my older bro, he got it from Frank. Retired mechanic, everybody knew Frank.
Car was really sweet when my bro got it, bought it from him for $300 a couple years later. It had started rusting, had a few dents and the engine, well, that needed a lot of work.
Learned a lot working on that car.
Bought the 66GP from a friend of my buddy Darryll. He had the car, drove it for bout a year or so, then sold it when he got a 69GP, same colour scheme. Burgandy w/black vinyl roof. So his friend had it for about a year, drove the crap out of it.
Then I bought my first Pontiac. FSB mount was hanging off the lower control arm, rad had a leak, 6cyl was barely running. Quite a few more dents, rust got worst. Interior was trashed.
Looking back, I must have been pretty stupid to think I could resurrect her. And it's still sitting, waiting.
Although I finally sold my old Maxima, so now we have an extra driveway spot for the winter.
Now if I can only get some more room in the garage to work on it!
If only I knew then what I know now.........but the memories.....the late nights.....working on the car with my brother or friends, or both.
My little brother used to sit in the drivers seat, play the stereo and smoke. Myself and friends would be working on the car or under it and if we needed something, my little bro would get it for us.
He'd get us tools, parts, food, drinks. what ever we needed, as long as he got to play the stereo.
Lots of fun.
Guess I'd do it all over again.

Both still require a lot of work.

That was one nice Car!  I'm curious though. I have a 66 GP and I have a 67 2+2 parts cars with discs.  I'm thinking of putting them on the 66 but I'm not sure how different the 66 and 67 front ends are.  Do yo remember what you used for the discs in your car?

I can't recall exactly, that was about 30 years ago! However, if I had to guess I would say that we basically swapped over the entire steering linkage from the later car on to the 66 when we did the disc swap. It seems to me the first snag may have been that the 66 outer tie rod end didn't fit the disc brake steering arm. Just not sure though...

How about some details on your 66? I still have a dream of buying one again some day. If you read some of my old posts on here you will see that I had a factory 4 speed 66 Grande Parisienne that was a 396 car but I converted it to a 427. Tracked it down in Ottawa in January this year (sold it 20 years ago) and it's not for sale...

Hi Carl, I am kind of new here so I'm not sure that I haven't started too many conversations.

However I might as well answer your question. I bought this car in 2002. It was in Brooks and originally was sold in Lethbridge. It came with the GM documentation that the previous owner had had done. It wasn't too rusty but had about 100,000 miles on the clock and had been repainted poorly twice. It was originally Lemonwood yellow with a black vinyl top. It had the 396, AC, PS, PB, AM radio, Power Windows, Bucket/console, Powerglide, rear speaker. rear defrost and head rests on the buckets. The previous owner had ripped all the interior apart and taken the front of the engine apart but it was all still there

Pretty loaded I think and was fairly early production (November 65)

I got it running roughly last year and ended up finding out foe sure that the engine needed a complete redo. (That's another sad story though)

I have been working on it actively for about a year now and have pretty much the parts I need.
I'm only going to do 3 or 4 modifications as I think it's better kept pretty original. I'm sneaking in a 700R4 and I will run a Pertronix in the distributor and I wil run a set of rally wheels with some 1967 disc caps that I got.
I'm mulling over grafting the disc setup from my 67 parts car but I have totally redone the 66 drum setup so I might keep that for a while.
I have manged to find a factory tach and and AM/FM but I'm still looking for a tilt, although the 67 has one I think it's a bit different in that it has the 4 way flashers which the 66 doesn't.

Anyway it isn't really for sale as I've been really wanting a big block car and I always had a real weakness for these.

See Ya

Ken

The 69-70 single piston setup is a bolt on to the pre-69 cars, although the hub size is larger in 69-70 compared to 65-68. I encountered no issues with tie rod ends, drag link, pitman arm or anything else. All the existing front end parts are compatible. But you do need to change to disc brake spindles if you want to use a factory vs. aftermarket setup.
