I have a 2001 ch##y Astra The battery was disconnected now it is asking for a code to unlock the radio which I do not have . Can any one help me with this please .

The procedure is in the Service Manual. I don't have an Chevy manual but I have a few Pontiac ones. Here's what I have:
Pause no more than 15 seconds between steps.
1. Igntion ON Radio OFF press MN, display should show 000.
2. Press MN to diplay last two digits of your secret code.
3. Press HR to display first one or two digits of your secret code.
4. Press AM/FM (BAND). If display shows SEC your are in good shape and radio will work. If not you have the wrong code and you need to try again. You have 8 tries until INOP appears. If that happens the ignition has to remain on for one hour then you have only 3 tries left.
