love the early '70s pro stocks. check out this one.... very rare shot of the strickler/jenkins red '61 biscayne right at the beginning. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ydvcA_O-TNg
Great videos guys, thanks for posting. Sadly so many of the drivers are no longer with us. Strickler, Sox, Landy, Harrell, Liberman, Nicholson, Durham etc. These guys sure could bang the gears, love the Strickler clip.

that was awesome! I never got to see any drag racing when i was a kid(actually, come to think of it i still havent!!) And Todd, that song dear mr. fantasy is really done well by my favorite band big sugar.I think ive played that song in every band ive been in,Love it.
Great videos. Dandy Dick chomping on that cigar awesome. I was clicking on some of the other video links. Early 60's up to early 70's i like the best. Just before my time, but i did grow up watching some decent racing in the 80's and early 90's on Sundays. A guy like Eddie Hill still winning in 1994 was great. Gotta love a group like Big Sugar, good music and a car nut to boot!
Great footage and hard to believe how young Landy and the boys look!. Anyone see that recent thread on a Dodge site where Landy was authenticating one of his '70 Hemi Chargers a year or so before he passed...bummer how that getting old thing happens to us all..
That short shot of Jungle Jim in his '71 Camaro funny car is great and the same one I have the original model and box of.. His Nova shots are cool too and I think both pre Pam days?.
I'd seen the first one before but not the York one on the UK site...sure great links to more there!. If anyone ever comes across any footage of my pal Curly in the Karbelt Fiat please let me know.. I've been looking for years and have seen mention of footage but only ever found still shots so far..
Sure great clips and a fella could just watch these forever, especially stuff w/ Linda Vaughn and the Hurstettes...yummmmm, where's Nikki?.

hey Blacktransam, your right about big sugar, me and gordie Johnson talked for about 45 min. one night about cars and his challenger.Good guy, and i even got to play his black les paul guitar thats on the ride like hell album cover. That album never came out of my trans am when i had it, great driveing tunes. i might even put an 8-track player in my 59 and record some big sugar on it so i can get that big "cathunk' sound in between songs!! Heres an older pic of my other hobby, the one that makes even a little more noise sometimes.
Good stuff, dig those fr.engine dragsters.lets not forget "Jungle Pam",hear shes still touring around. And Dave, that guy on the far left of the pic looks just like you back in the day, minus the glasses ofcourse.ha ha !!!!!!!!

Hey that's pretty cool! I can't play but i like a good guitar solo! If you ever get that 8 track in i'll have to find the original 1975 Aerosmith one my dad has. He bought a bunch for some other music and there it was. Not sure if it works but i'm sure he'd gladly part with it. A buddy of mine, actually my best man celebrated his birthday on the weekend and his wife got him a new electric guitar...think it was a Fender.
What is the name of the song that starts playing towards the end??? And is it by some brothers??? Great video.

hey blacktransam, i do give lessons so if your ever interested let me know, and i'll even give you the canadian poncho discount! I actually had to change my music room to another room in the house cause i had to fit a drum kit and another amp in it.I did get rid of some guitars in the past couple years but i'm mostly putting the money towards the 59. Your buddys lucky to get a guitar for his birthday, and a fender at that.Ive had 3 fenders throughout the years so far, im sure there will be more down the road. As far as that 8-track in the car it was in and i just have to wire it up.It was from my dads 67 charger. I also have an 8-track player/recorder and some blank cassettes so i have put some big sugar on them so i'll see how she sounds. Have you hears the beggining of the brother and sisters are you ready? album? If not its a must and turn it up!!!

59poncho thanks for the guitar lessons offer, that would be cool. First i need to get more work done on my car and become a bit more mechanically inclined. I'm really a beginner at it all. Not sure what i'll get done in the winter, i need a heater in the garage! I don't know how much of a fan you are of grunge, but lately i've been stuck on an Alice in Chains kick...with some Soundgarden thrown in.
