Just had my carb done on my 54. Took quite a long time. I went to a place in Winnipeg who did a great job on my 69 ford carb, but TOTALLY dropped the ball on my Pontiac! He did do a good job, but it took WAY longer than it should have, and I had to locate the parts for him.....

Itll be my last time going to him.

Just nice to hear her purring away again!

Thanks. the work thats been done has taken me some time. I know this stuff dosen't get done overnight. To me thats ok, I'm not in a rush, and the car isnt going anywhere unless I decide to go for a drive..lol.. Thats where all the payoff is.
Hey here is a shot of the carb just after I took it off the car. The first one is of the carb that I rebuilt, yes its the same carb. The second pic is of the carb that came off my 54. I am now going to redo it and have it as a standby for now.

There is something that those who have a 53/54. By now some allready know this, but the Carter WCD 2010s seems to be a uncoman type of WCD. It needs a carb kit exact to the 2010s. Most of the gaskets work just fine from other more coman units, learnt this by trial and ..humm mostly error. But it really differs in the pump area. Thats where the right kit will do a much better job of redoing our 2010s.

Ya, the kit itself he was having problems finding, and after about a month, I ordered one from California Pontiac Restoration, and had it in about a week.

I dropped it off, and he was saying the accelerator pump gasket that came in the kit just doesnt work well, and ordered in another one. Something about the leather/non leather ones, one works, the other just doesnt on these carbs. (Ive never rebuilt a carb, so it was mostly a different language to me)

Either way, shes done now, and the engine purrs like a kitten. :)

You can see the leather part that he was talking about.
