54 Pathfinder

Well this passed weekend I got some final work done on the Pontiac just before saftey. One of these shots might give you a laugh. It did my family after I came in from the garage.
Got the  tank repaired and the float working now. Some metal work done on the inner rockers and some done on the floor braces. she now has plates as of tonight even managed to get plates with the last two numbers 54.

enjoy...

RE: 54 update with pics

Excellent! It always feels good making progress...

Just an observation, do you work with only one jack stand under either side? It makes me nervous seeing that. I have gone to 2 stands per side and it feels a lot more secure.

I dislike working under the car like that but I find it peaceful once I get over worrying about being crushed, just gazing up at the frame and undercarriage wondering what all the car has been through. Great that you got it plated and as far as the black face goes , Halloween was over a week ago!

I guess the shots you don't see all four stands. But yes there was four. To me without four it seems so unsolid working like that. I hate if the car wiggles around makes me nervous. Plus there was a high lift jack at he very back and at the front. I enjoy the work but like to tell about it. At the shop that did the saftey they put it up on a hoist.. And yah! gotta get one of those.

What do you guys think about the painted rim and black wall. Or wide whites not sure which way to go? Also I have a shot of under the hood, does anyone know what the chalk marks mean?

for me I prefer the black wall and your dogdish cap.

For the engine color, there was some gray engine (to be confirm) and lighter green, like forest green. Mine is not correct (it will be after the resto) is now 61-64 pontiac engine color. There is a color chart for Pontiac engine somewhere. I'll post the link as soon as found it.

Your underneath is in better condition then mine. It's easy to fix for someone with the capacity for.

I have emailed Horst who maintains that link a number of times about Canadian colours and sent him photo's of samples. It does not appear to be updated. The small block orange began in 1958 and it shows 56 for example.

Thanks! Seems to be a pretty hard finnish once cured for some time. It dries real slow. I still have to do the front passenger suspension, the K member, the motor. Clean and finnish the trans. Refinnish the starter motor, rebuild and refinnish the generator. And once all that is done I want to pull out all the shocks and paint them back to the GM blue that they were.
Then in late spring I should have the Headliner and windlace here to install. That should be it for this year, I will be out of money by then.
