Something ain't right. 428 is the American Pontiac engine, Parisienne is Canadian.

In our neck of the woods, (Prairies) it's quite rare.

Wasn't 428's the standard Bonneville engine for '69?.

It's not rare at all interms of car and engine, just like a 455 in a 70+. Astro Jet has a 428 in his 69 Bonneville wagon. The Rare thing is it is a 1969 Bonneville and it is here in Canada.

1970 is the first year that Bonnevilles were available in the mainstream dealer system in Canada and even then not that common.

To your last question, I'd say hustle over there and check it out. $3,000 sounds pretty good for what is pictured.

The real good 428's  are found in 69 Grand Prix with 370 -390 hp engines. 4 bolt main blocks, heat treated cranks, big valve heads with guide plates and all kinds of other goodies. I would certainly have a look at that Bonneville at that price.

Here are the production numbers from surfing the web:

1969 Pontiac Bonneville Production Numbers
  2-door hardtop - 7,428
  4-door hardtop - 40,817
  4-door sedan - 4,859

I suppose 7,428 2dr HT is a pretty low run albeit a total run of over 50,000.

The 428 in my '68 GTO is from a '69 GP.

I just saw on Ebay a 69 428 intake for $499.
I wish had some knowledge about these cars. I don't even know the engine code or the normal places for rust. This site has opened my eyes on the beauty of the B bodies.

There's a few American late 60's B-Body Pontiac guys on the Performance Years forums. I'm sure they can give you the codes as well as tell you the typical rust locations for a 69. Make sure the nose cone is good or be prepared to spend at least $350 for a good one!

Like previously mentioned, the 69 Bonneville 428 is a small valve engine and was standard for the Bonneville, most of them were 2 bolt mains and last year of the USA 428 only produced from 1967-69, all 67-68 428 were 4 bolt mains and 69 Grandprix, I've got one of these 69 GP 428 4 bolt mains SR block and previously had another 69 GP 428 4 bolt mains that I sold to power somebody's 69 Grandprix. They are hard to find especially in Canada.

As others have stated, 428s are extremely rare in Canada.  A complete running motor has got to be worth $2K by itself these days.  If this car runs and drives, it's almost a no brainer....

No.........My wife said over her dead body. She told me to sell one of my GTO's and then I could get it. She also reminded me about putting a cam in and the cost of that and also a rebuilt 455 sitting on the floor doing nothing. God do I hate it when she's rightbleh Maybe if it don't sell I'll sweet talk her for a Xmas giftbiggrinbiggrin

Yup, put the ownership in her name, that should do the trick!  You can tell her it's an investment and you now have an appreciating asset!wink

Yes. Everytime she tells me how much she is losing on her Royal Bank shares. I'm going to bring up the Bonny.

Ooooh that could go over sooooo poorly.  Especially when she turns around and says what you don't appreciate my assets???  That's when you hope you have heat in the garage or shed!lmao.gif
