GM Vintage vehicle services form

I did a GM Vintage request today and thought maybe someone else could use the form sometime. Simple as faxing in with a credit card number. Just make sure you DON'T put your fax number on the form unless you want the info faxed back at an extra cost.

WOW!!! $57 slow or $68 rush now!!! I was only $40 a few years ago and $0 back in the early '90's!!!! Come to think of it, I blame all the increase on fees on my buddy Mike back in the '94 era.  If I recall, he, well I, sent in at least 15-20 requests on all of the cars he had! I should send him a "thank-you" card!!!!

Yes it hurts, but our neighbours to the south would LOVE to have that option available for their cars. I have seen them discuss that on many forums.

Adding it to the cost of a restoration makes it seem minor!

I'm just dying to know more about my Beaumont, but what exactly does this include? I Know that they will send me information about original colour of paint and interior and how many of that model were made etc. but I read somewhere that gm canada will send a very large package of info with it.

That's correct. They send a lot of documentation- AMA specs, option codes as well as
the option list, build and shipping date of your car as well as selling dealer. Money well spent.

In your case they will send a photocopy of a 2-3 page beaumont spec sheet for your year. As well as a photocopy of the chevelle specs booklet(about 30 pages).  Nothing you cant find on the internet with regard to chevelle specs.

I guess it make them feel better for chargeing so much money!

With all the cut backs GM is experiencing, just be glad that George is still around to do this.  I'm with Carl, the cost is small compared to that of a restoration or getting ripped off with a fake car.  Have you seen the number of times this documentation is now referred to at auctions like B-J?  It's gold.  Yes, it's too bad some people abused it by sending in tons of VINs but that's inevitable when something is "free" - people don't appreciate what it is really worth.

I don't drink or smoke. It's not hard for me to justify spending 60 bucks on something like this!

Just read this over on Steve's Nova Site. You have to request option info now it says.

________________________________________________________________________
The first post at the top of this forum is about getting information on having your car documented by GM Canada.
The post now has the link to the latest GM Canada Vintage Services page. This page includes the cost: $57.75 for a mailed package and $68.25 for a faxed package (as of December 31, 2009). It also has links at the bottom to pages showing the format of the documentation and what information is included. Also note that a 'request for option information' form must now be submitted for documentation. There is a link to that as well.

Yeah, not sure exactly what it all means but I guess maybe a guy has to be specific when he wants documents now.

As 67rag396 wrote above,

You can get the form from here:

http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html

This is the newer VVS link with a clink link for GM Vehicles 1964 and newer and a clink link for GM Vehicles 1963 and older.

The old VVS link with more details was here:

http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/shopping/parts/vintage

The option content of your 1964 and newer vehicle information includes:
-original paint colour and interior trim colour
-production/shipping dates
-quantity of same model produced for sale in Canada
-original engine number through late 1960's (if available)
-original selling Dealer and location (if available

Available information for 1946 to 1963 vehicles is limited to:
-colour
-trim
-production/shipping dates
-engine number
-quantities produced for sale in Canada
-selling Dealer (after approx. 1957)

NEWS FLASH:
There was another price increase at end of 2010 for these services. The flat rate new prices for mailed package content (faxed is slightly higher) are as follows:
-GM Vehicles 1964 and newer costs $73.45
-GM Vehicles 1963 and older costs $39.55

NOTE:
Situation, suppose you have a 1964 or newer car and ordered this info package from VVS prior to 1994 when Ray and the GM summer interns did this service and did not receive the option info available after 1994. George Zapora had posted a thread on CP forum and on Steve's Nova site about offering a solution for this to forum members for whom this sitation applied.

Solution, if you call or email George, explain your situation, then fax him a option request form with your car's VIN then he will send the newer option info for the difference in prices quoted above: $73.45 - $39.55 = $33.90.

Although pre-war data is no longer available, as GMVVS sent out copies of Chevrolet data to others, and they have sent them to me in turn, I have production data for 1932, 1936 and 1938 Chevies and 1935 Chevy trucks. I just wish after all these years that someone would send me data that they were sent for other years. I now field questions from owners as I have that info!

Has anyone received a package recently from GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services? I just got an order form and the price has certainly gone up. $118.65.

Also what does one recieve from PHS vs VVS? The reason being is that the 69 GTO I just purchased is a Baltimore built Goat so I could get PHS for a lot less than VVS.

Thoughts or comments??

I was looking at PHS documents on June 30 for a GM Canada imported 1970 GTO and sold at York Mills Pontiac Buick in Toronto.

The PHS documents are pure garbage. I found nothing useful at all in the boiler plate information provided.

The reason GMVVS documents have increased on some models is because so has the frequency of foregeries on certain collector car lines. The new Heritage Certificate system has a seal on the paper to indicate authenticty.

Does the PHS document not have options or anything on it?

I think the one I got years ago for a 64 GTO convert I was shopping for even had the selling dealer on it.

What I was provided was an actual vehicle order form copy with check marks in the boxes and a number of standard phpotocopies. I suppose for a US built and sold car the package would be different, I can only assume so. For a car like I was inspecting, US built but Canadian sold the GMVVS documents are far superior. I really think it is a waste of money getting PHS if the car was imported and sold by GM Canada.

I recently bought the hertiage package wink

and its certainly "sealed"  but not impressively!!

I looked and looked epecting something special confuse

and you have to put on your glasses and hold up to the light

         to "see" the seal

nice for a big dollar car

not so much for a normal car    C2

Unfortunately if you have an A body you have to pay the piper. These are the cars that muscle cars were built on and are often misrepresented.
