Wasted a day

elvis and i were on our way to newtonville recycle to pick up an engine from a 76 pontiac when the old trailer decided the c clip wasn't needed. good thing the trailer was lowered because the fenders kept the wheel on. didn't use CAA just came home and got my car dolly

Good thing the fender kept it in, I had a 1975 Olds Cutlass shear an axle right off when I turn a corner back in the 80's, the car ended up on it's side, wheel fell with a big puddle of diff. fluid LOL ! That's what happen when you get stuck in the sand and it gets inside the bearing over a year prior.

not the first time i've broken an axle or should say lost a C clip. around 97 i had gone beach crawling with the jeep in cow bay on the east coast. the pebbles are between 6" to a foot. didn't notice anything but driving home, as i was going over magazine hill my rear passenger wheel, hub, axle shaft, everything passed me on the highway. i pushed in the brake but alas i had none, go figure. i coasted to a stop, whipped out cell phone and called CAA. really impressed the future misses at the time. (the fact no panic, phone out, solve problem). the rear wheel travelled about another mile. by the time the tow truck showed up i had rolled it back. expensive fix i might add.

Sorry not for sale. rear axle is a torque tube rearend out of a 48 GMC (i removed the gears but left the carrier). the frame is off a 56 Chev long box 3/4 ton (leafs are longer) and the box is my original off my 55 GMC. i had originally tubbed the truck so the inside were notched. the rims are off a 64 chev from california and the tailgate is a late model chev with my original GMC insert welded back in. wood rotted years ago so i now have checker plate steel for floor. one tough trailer. i should have it rectified probally sat.
