Here is what your numbers mean.

Serial  7= 1957
        2019= 4 door sedan
         D= laurentian series
         8= V8 engine
37884  = sequence number of all 1957 Canadian Pontiacs built in Oshawa

Engine number 9=automatic transmission
                      V= V8 engine

Style 2019D= 4 dr. Laurentian

Body 3384= sequence number of 4 dr Laurentians built

BSO  Body Special Options no 340=   V8 engine

Paint 2004= Highland Green Metallic
Trim 908=  This is a guess as I do not have the trim codes for 57.  Green cloth and Dark green vinyl interior.

thanks Al

the trim code is correct as interior is a green .
One more thing, how would i know if the engine is original. The previous owner tells me that there is a 283 in it. How can i tell. thanks

Al probably knows all the casting numbers and block stampings off by heart but I don't! If you can post the number cast on the block behind the drivers side cylinder head as well as the numbers stamped on the machined surface in front of the passenger cylinder head, we should have no trouble figuring out what it is.

I wish my memory was that good Carl but it isn't anymore. The engine number on the front pad on the right hand side on the engine should match the engine number on the data plate.
