another HUGE junkyard

I saw this on the internet, some huge scrapyard in RI. People say thousands of cars on hundred acres. On the map, the cars are scattered all over the place in the forest. It turns out the government says he has to scrap all the cars, and the guy doesn't like selling the parts or cars apparently, or is really expensive. Cars are rotted as well.
Never went there, maybe you guys know of it??

yup, even at least give some stuff away to people that enjoy it or in need of the pats rather then let it get crushed.

I wonder if they are going to do that at Jacksons down here.

For years my cousin (age 60 now) left his 67 Chevelle 2 door hardtop sitting in plain view near the road that runs past our house. From time to time, people would stop in here (closest house in view of it) to try to buy the car. I knew it wasn't for sale and always told them so. My cousin said he told people who asked that it wasn't for sale because when he was a kid, the old guys would never sell anything to him that he wanted to buy!

After about 10 or more years of it sitting there, at least he sold it to a friend of his (same age as he is) before it totally returned to the earth!!! Now at least we get to see it cruising around in the summer time.

Those "gonna fix it up some day" guys drive me crazy.....

Even as a kid I loved junkyards. My grampa used to take me when I got to be around 10. Better enjoy them while we can. Before long it will be strip, recycle & crush. The days of long term storage are closing. Scrap prices will be back up after last summers glut has been processed.
I think there is enough scrap metal lying around in North America they could almost take a year off mining any new iron.

When I was a teenager you could still wander freely in the auto wreckers in London. We would even "borrow" one of the yard cars and bomb around looking for parts. I still remember being in an old Audi and my buddy going flat out power shifting and flying through huge puddles. I'm surprised we never got caught! One yard (Andy's Auto Wreckers) used to have a bunch of cars that weren't quite ready for the yard parked out front for sale. They were always unlocked and we would sit in our favorites and try to figure out how to raise the 4 or 5 hundred bucks to buy them. I'll never forget the 70 Pontiac T-37 2 door they had for sale for $450. It was red with white vinyl top and interior. I wanted that car bad!

I've seen many a cool car in the yards over the years, but the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona wing car that sat at Cathcart Auto Parts back in the mid '70's was the one that always stuck in my mind. It still had the nose & rear wing on it, was hit in the drivers door. Went for scrap.

Speaking of winged Mopars. I remember my dad telling me a guy in a Superbird rear ended a London Transit bus in the early 70's and was killed. I guess he was really moving!

Funnny you guys talk about the mopar there was a super bird many years back at a stop at the base of stony Mountain Pen. I tried Many times to buy the car but because of my age at the time, the guy just blew me off. It was rough but complete. From what I know of the car its in Winnipeg now fully restored.
