I had originally reserved a Cadillac DTS for our trip to Palm Beach, but when the female half of the other couple who went with us found out she freaked out saying that it would not be big enough for our luggage. She wanted a mini van! I laughed because I know what can go in a Cadillac trunk and I also know how comfortable it is to ride in but for the sake of harmony I switched to an SUV.
We ended up with a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6 which was a mighty ride. I grew to love it over the week I drove it. Owners manual said 266 HP and 288 lb ft torque, it even listed a 5.6 V8 as optional, 310 HP and 380 lb ft torque. It was good on gas and there was a lot of meat on the bird!
It managed our 4 suitcases, 2 golf bags and carry-ons just fine but I did have to listen to how cramped it was....go figure.
those famous consumer report magazines rate them poor-first I've seen them do this to an import-
I guess that's why I like it, never drove anything they rated as good.
What were the shortcomings that you read ?
I searched two consumer reports that list it as a decent vehicle but dislike the fuel consumption. I guess that tells you fuel consumption is a relative thing. I drove 500 miles on $50 gas and thought that was good.
