RE: Micky from chile

One of our techs at work is from South America. His dad owned a repair shop there. He said you had to be very resourceful. Parts weren't replaced, they were rebuilt. Just like we used to do in the good ol days. A friend of mine is a retired Cadillac Tech (he worked at the Cadilllac dealer that I believe was in downtown Toronto-Ray?) and he said up to the mid 60's the only parts that weren't rebuilt were power seat motors.

Wow   thats cool to hear    When I was a kid, I used to watch my Dad and Uncle, rebuild everything on older cars.. I wonder if, they can still get the "parts' to rebuild....

I believe that would be Addison Pontiac-Buick-Cadillac on Bay St. north of College.
Great dealership, I bought many parts there through the 80's when a lot of the 60's and 70's stuff was still available. It was a beautiful art deco building. A lot of the service/storage space was on the second floor and the roof and accessed via a long ramp up the side. Unfortunately the land it sat on just became too valuable and was sold for condos a year or so go. Maybe 68sd can find a picture from his archives?

I sure wish I could read Spanish. I would like to know what is being said on your forum.

Although it's not 100% perfect, here's a link to a helpful page:

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/  Copy and paste the text from the Beaumont webpage into the window and then select your language options.

One thing I noticed on 3 different 1968 Beaumonts on that Chilean website was the use of the 1967 Chevelle / Chevy II / Camaro "250" crest on the fenders. My '67 Chevelle has them, that's why I noticed.

My theory on the BB hood's is the dies to stamp them were likely in better shape than the standard hood dies as not as many were produced..

The vehicles, that arrived at the port of Arica, were engaged in initially disarmed in drawers from Canada from plant GM of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and from 1967 from Planta GM of Willow Run in Michigan, the USA. you can send a photo to me of how were those places in that age and this age?
