1957 sedan delivery bush find

She's rested in the bushes since the late 70's. I walked right by it twice till it was pointed out to me. The engine and tranny is gone but everything else is still there. Note the long shackles which were the style of the day here in the prairies. Also note the non pontiac quarter panels.. 56 chev maybe? GM documentation says it is one of 857 built in Oshawa, sold out of Dawson Creek British Columbia and it ends up here in Saskatchewan.

Those are very neat. What are the plans for it? How serious is the rust?

Plans for now are to bring it back down to earth and make it drive. Those jacked up cars with little bitty foam covered steering wheels were a challenge to drive back then, don't think I'd enjoy it as much now though.Pretty bad front floors but from the seat back is real good. Exterior rust is as usual, dog legs and lower front fenders. Tailgate and surround is all very good too. If the vent windows weren't left open I suspect the front floors might've been better .

The rear quarters on the car are the same as 56 CH*VY . The wagons for some reason used 56 and on the cars they are 57

I am looking at getting one of those also. A guy out west has a decent one with some roof rust that I have been thinking about. I also know where there is a pretty much junk one sitting in a pasture.

I would have to sell my 55' Chevy Handyman though to make room.

second edition of the Standard Catalog of American light duty trucks by John A. Gunnell says 682 produced, Canada only item. I have one and I only know of about 12 survivors altogether around the world either on the road or bush finds. The really rare ones are the window wagon versions with a sedan delivery lift gate and firewall tag. Pat.

That wouldn't happen to be Richard Dragan's old delivery out of Saskatoon?? If so, check carefully, there might be a 5.13 posi in it...........

Cheviac is right about the production numbers. According to GM in Oshawa, 857 produced. I have a tag with body number in the 600's. I just sold my 57 delivery to Florida. Biscayne Bob on here purchased it and will do a concours number matching restoration. Probably going to regret selling but I have too many projects ahead of it. Pat.

Another beauty! How are the original taillight housings? Were they able to be restored? Can't help but think 59 Caddy lights would look good in 'em ...

Nice find . Let's keep rescuing those 1957 Canadian Pontiacs. This car will be really nice when restored.
