salvage yards and car dealers for classics in Calgary

I'm going to be in Calgary for a few days last half of next week. Does anyone know if there are any salvage yards or pick a parts in southern Alberta or Montana close to the border that might have cars or parts - Chevy & Pontiac - from 61 to 77? Also are there any old car dealers, collections, swap meets etc. in the area I should know about? Are these places open Fri, Sat and/or Sunday, as I have a lot of flex with my time? Appreciate any tips or web links. Thanks.

There a Pick N Pull here, but haven't been there for a while so I couldn't tell you what they have.

Not much in Calgary Pick-n-Pull.  A '67 4 dr Laurentian that we attacked a few weeks ago, and a '70 2dr Skylark.

Give "Flatla Auto Wrecking" near Tilley, AB a try.  It's a 2 hr drive east from Calgary on the Trans Canada, just past Brooks.  He's got a couple thousand cars, halfway sorted into GM, Mopar, Ford.  Dale Flatla at 888-377-2488, he's open during the week, and until 2 or so on Saturdays.

There was also a large yard just east of Lethbridge, but they stopped letting the public into the yard a few years ago because of insurance liability.

No swap meets on at this time of year.

Thanks for this information. I will defintiely try to get to the Flatla yard, probably on Friday.
Re. the one in Lethbridge - do you know if are they still in business and selling despite not letting folks in the yard?
By the way, do you have any snow yet in Calgary? None here and still warm.

it's turning cold tonight, high of -6C on Tuesday Dec 2.

The Lethbridge yard is "Marshall's Auto Wrecking", they're just a few miles East of Lethbridge, about 1/2 mile north of Highway 3.  Supposedly they crushed over half of their cars a few years ago, just after they stopped letting the public into the yard.  However, when I do a flyover with mapquest or google earth, it looks like all of the cars are still there.  They seem to think their computer system was up to date, but I think it was only up to date with cars that were brought in, but didn't show the cars that were already in the yard.  If you get down that way, you can also stop in at a smaller yard just east of Granum (highway 2 between Fort McLeod and Claresholm).  I don't have the guys name or number, but just drive east from Granum about 1/2 mile on the secondary highway and look south about 1/4 mile.

About 5 years ago, 67rag396 and I hit all 3 of these yards (Granum, Marshall's in Lethbridge, and Flatla in Tilley) one day in the middle of summer.  It's quite arid in that part of the province, and I think Rick ended up with heat stroke.

Not sure where you're from, but Granum and Tilley are little towns, like 50 people.  (not 50,000 which is a small town in Ontario)

I wanted to say thanks for the tip about Flatla's. I went there on Saturday Dec 6th. Dale has a lot of parts cars. More Mopar than anything else but a healthy representation of Ford & GM makes too, a bit of 40s, some 50s & lots of 60s & 70's, even some 80s stuff, as well as imports, trucks & farm equipt. Sheet metal is well preserved for the most part and there's still lots of trim to be had.

I'd say he has somewhere around 30-40 Canadian Pontiacs, with the most prevalent seeming to be 59-60 models. I'd estimate 8-10 of those, zero 61-62s, 3 or 4 - 63-64s, a couple of 65-66s, 5 or 6 - 67-68s and  4 or 5 - 69-70s. I saw 2 - 65 Beaumonts, & maybe 1 - 68 or 69. Can't remember any Acadians but there might have been 1 or 2.

Maybe fewer Chevrolets than you might expect, at least from what I saw: 2 or 3 - 55-57s, maybe 5 - 61-64s; 5 - 65-67s; & 12 - 14 - 68-70 models, and a few Chevelles. Plus there was a smattering of Olds & Buick, but not a lot from what I could see.

All in all, well worth the trip.
