Habs vs. Rangers - 100th Celebration

Anybody see that pregame ceremony from the Bell Centre tonight? Montreal Canadiens, the definition of a class hockey club. This 100th year celebration is awesome seeing all the legends there game in game out. My son is truly impressed when the camera pans on these men from the past and I name them. Even Dick Irvin was on tonight, was there anybody better than him and Danny Gallivan calling a game? Harry Howell came out and Andy Bathgate, Bobby Rousseau, and Henri Richard - 11 Stanley Cups. Looking at the game today I see now that I was truly blessed to see it played the way these fine gentleman played it and realize too why I love it so.

I'm Toronto all the way, I have been involved in hockey for most of my life at competetive levels. I learned two things from hockey and I instil those in all the players I've coached....PRIDE and RESPECT. The Montreal Canadiens epitomoize those two values so I guess you're right another Montreal fan. thumbsup.gif

Toronto first, Montreal second but it's hard not to be in awe and respect of that storied franchise.

I see a lot of young players who lack this Pride and Respect and I think we saw that this week with Sean Avery... a very sad case.

Whats up with you and Steve Moore?

I see the Leafs lost, for me my boys had a rough first period and we got down 4-2 by the end of two. Some great coaching in the third and a goalie out score  got us a 4-4 tie.

I loved the goalie out play. On a whistle in their end with 1:34 to go I got out my best rushing defenseman. Right off the face off they tried to ice the puck but I had my goalie playing high, he cut off the icing and placed a tape to tape pass on my rushing D as he was curling in the neutral zone, my goalie continued to the bench as we started our transition and my speediest centre took the goalie but I sent him from the high side of the bench and as my D curled Eric was wide open comig off the bench, give and go and bang it's in....34 second left!

YES, usually with 5 minutes to go in a tight game you have to start managing your bench and planning your goalie out play, at least I do.  I knew who I needed on the ice, my goalie did his part, at 19 he knows what to do and when to come PLUS he's Jr. and he and I are connected! The right guys were out there, they did it, not me.

It was Moore that threw the first cheap shot. A forth liner taking a cheap shot at a first liner. As if Burke is going to send out Bert after Moore??? That's what his forth line is for. Also the Vancouver mangement phoned down to the bench and told Bert that he's the one to go after Moore. He's trying to milk a cash cow that he has no right to milk. I'm surprised he's not taking his teammates to court as well for dogpiling on him after the hit to cause futher injury.

I understand the situation completely, believe me I do. It just sounded like you have some personal involvement in this lawsuit.

And to your point if I was Burke, Domenic Moore would have already been gone.

On a happier note, my youngest lad (13) was lucky be given the game puck after last night's OHL Peterboro' Pete's loss to the Plymouth Whalers...the puck being the happy part, not the loss!.

That's a great early Christmas present. He must be walking on air.

We have a puck collection that must be in the hundred's. It includes many OHL and NHL game pucks. I'm a sucker for a good puck.

Excuse me, but what does Steve Moore have to do with what Dominic is doing right now for the Leafs? Quite frankly, he's one of the best players they have right now. Do you automatically condemn the brother of every player that has ever committed a foul? I guess after the Rocket got suspended in the 55 playoffs the Canadiens should have just automatically gotten rid of Henri as well?

It's a different thing Hillar. As management you have to make sure no one will usurp your authority and it's just a matter of time before Moore will. There are lawsuits going on and Burke is involved. Blood is thicker than water. He's a good third line player playing way over his head and even at that he has 5 goals and is -2. He's not the future of the team, get somethng for him now while he's worth something and deal away a potential problem.

I'm just a firm believer in a lawsuit has no place in Hockey. I don't think any player is out to ruin anothers. There's a chance when you play hockey you may get hurt. The NHL should deal with this. Not the Police and the courts.
As for Dominic. He has inside info of the lawsuit that involves the GM being Brain Burke. This is not good for the club. This had to be talked about before Brain took the job.
It's not fact.......just my thinking that a trade will involve Dominic

By the way I think the NHL should of done something about cheap shots way back when and Bobby Orr would of never took so many hits to his knee.
