too bad for uaw, they're part of the reason also why the plants nned to go looking for gov't money. If uaw would not have to earn quite so much, they'd still have jobs. ask for too much, lose your job. There are stil people working at this plant, perhpas not as many, but more than if all the plants leave the continent.

I listened, to a retired UAW worker, on Detroit radio, on Thursday..He reminded us that the high wages were there, along with 95% pay pension plans, BECAUSE there "was money to negotiate".. When thing were good, and the Execs, were making big money, and shareholders were making big returns, the Workers Union, just stuck their handS into the pot. NoW, they are willing to sign anything, to keep their jobs...maybe too late..Carl

That's the UAW. Just listen to Buzz and the CAW. "No Concessions, No Way". Dinosaur mentality at it's best.

buzz should think or retiring and letting someone more up to date with worker situations today take over. Workers are no longer the poor helpless type. someone willing compromise and work for the best of the worker and the company should have his job. He can talk, for his job is not on the line is it?

Over the last 10 years or so BUZZ would get on TV making HIS case for more and more money and slowly the plants closed up one by one .Did nobody see what was coming? Unions have waaaaaay to much power.As soon as a union gets in they want to have power over these companies.Using Black mail and holding a company hostage is just not right.

Carl;
You've hit the nail on the head!!! I worked for a large American firm (UCAR) and walked out at the right time!  I am ok and have no financial worries!

Pro Union here.Should The employees not receive a decent wage,benefits,pension?As we see how much $ the heads,and other head salary people are making with these large corps.,its rediculous.Don't forget the perks,etc,etc,etc,etc.
To make it short,at the first sign of trouble,its the unions fault,or the greedy employees(c'mon,who else could it be),and the employees and their  families are asked to take the hit/get screwed,via concessions.No,it has nothing to do with the ceos making 7 figure salaries who have 20 ppl under them doing their work for them.These employees are not making 6-7 figure salaries,how about 25-30 $ hr. what is that now adays?Its the same wage Toyota,and the rest is paying its employees.So,where does the problem lie?
Honda,Toyota,mazda,etc are not on the verge of sinking,why not?

I have to agree with you too, I don't think that anyone is worth a million dollars a year, never mind 15 million or whatever the big boys get.

I am still old school though and believe that a dedicated employee will be compensated fairly for his work.
