I have someone who has been dealing with me on this for a while, but unsure he is ready to pull the trigger. I called him today and explained that he is first and that he and I are going to need to sit down and talk seriously!

I actually have all the stuff to do a factory 4 speed conversion on it, trans, shifter, console, bellhousing, pedals, flywheel etc.....

Yes, the four speed stuff would be great-I have a good M20 here but if it needs to go as a package it could be worked out.

Also the one hangup I have with taking a trade on this car is the idea behind selling it is to use the money to pay down a mortgage. Although it's not a big amount, taking your trade somewhat defeats that purpose.

As far as the conversion stuff goes, if I sell the car it would all be sold in pieces anyway, so breaking it up is not an issue.

Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were interested in the Roadmaster so I tried to work it both ways-

if he doesn't want it-post a price and I'll let you no-the yellow one I sent you I believe I can buy at $15,000 which is great as you can see but much better to have a #'s 327 SS and build it to my quality, the yellow one is rust free sort of-it had N.O.S. front fenders put on it, no other rust with pictures documenting-even @ $18,000 asking it sounds fair just a tough market

Yes, thats what I was thinking too-pretty sure he'd take it-when he was asking $18,000 I suggested my 83 TA as part trade-say $10,000 and the TA but he said he'd be better off with $15000 in cash than trying to sell another car.

I'm actually not even in the market-just never had a 66-67 Nova yet and now two good ones have fallen on my lap-like to move a car though

I am, don't worry. I would like to buy that car. I want it all. I want to sell the Nova, buy the Roadmaster and pay down the mortgage! I just can't figure out how to do all 3....

No dice on the Nova-I changed my mind too much turn key stuff showing up local. I'm sure you'll sell it if you advertise-even in the weak economy there should be money for a clean project nova SS

That all changed this week. I had a man I know walk up to the counter a week ago Sat when I was at work. I know him fairly well, real car guy. Farmer who does well at it. He has a 67 Acadian SD project car that I haven't seen yet, but one day.....

Anyway, he came specifically to ask me if my Nova was for sale. I showed him pictures of it last summer. He knows it's a great project car. I had one fellow who had asked ahead of him, so on Monday I got the ok from buyer #1 to go ahead and sell it to buyer #2 if he was willing. (And I know buyer #2 has the means to buy it!)

Tuesday night I was sitting at the keyboard composing an email to give him all the details, price, what it needs etc. Our son walked up to me and we started talking about the Nova. I have promised each child a special interest car when they turn 21. Neither one wants the 94 Impala SS although they both like it. Daughter wants the Acadian. Son informs me that I shouldn't sell the Nova until he gets back to me. Wed night he tells me that is the car he wants in 7 years (when he's 21) I guess it's no longer for sale!

I got the idea from my brother about giving the car away at 21. He gave his son a pretty valuable car if the son would stay drug free. I used a similar idea and told our kids drug and alcohol free. They get the car for free with 2 conditions. It's not to be a daily driver and it can't be sold.

I like the deal, wish my mom would have done that. I did get $1000 when I was 18 for being a non smoker though.

Carl, your brother sure had a great idea! worship.gif HEHE What else can I say?
And since I know both of your children, I am pretty sure that you will be giving up ownership of both of your cars. Small price to pay to keep the peer pressure from overwhelming your kids. thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

The condensed version of the story is that I was the one who took possesion of my father's car(67 Beaumont SD396) at the age of 21 for keeping drug free!  I think he did this because I was a VERY "strong willed" kid who didn't always make the best choices as a teenager.  More than likely, he was worried that I would get caught up in the wrong crowd and do something that I wish I hadn't.  In the end, he kept me out of trouble and from making some mistakes that I watched others make.  It taught me about values and choices.  Part of the deal was and still is that the car can never be sold.  It has no material value and never will.  The car is cool but the lesson means far more to me now.  I doubt that he is sorry that he lost his car.....

Interesting! ...my dads concept had a similar ending, but with a different strategy, instead of waiting to give me a car when i was older and staying out of trouble, he helped me buy my car at 14, got me hooked on it, so all my spare time and money went into the car resto and i had nothing left for any vices! i had to even scrounge used bmx parts from my friends who were buying new stuff while i was spending my money at softys and rondex! and i got edelbrock signature series valve covers and air cleaner from my mom for xmas when i was 15!!

Great story Andrew. I have to say I was hooked on my Beaumont from the day that my dad bought it (I was 10). He taught me how to drive it for all it was worth at the age of 14 when I had a learners license. Imagine a 14 year old, knowing how to make full throttle shifts with a 4 speed and a 396. Maybe he was a "bad" influence because 3 hours after getting my drivers license when I was 16, I was pulled over for roasting the tires for a block with the Beaumont. All the cop could say was "where in the censored.gif did you learn to drive like that?" My reply was "on the farm!" It must have impressed him because he gave me a warning and said that I wouldn't have a license for long if I kept it up. Maybe he liked Beaumonts wink biggrin clap.gif

Hi All

I started reading about an impala ss for sale but somehow we ended up at the nova ss---

not that I have a problem with that but I got lost where someone had an Impala ss going for $2500.

I enjoy reading all the discussions and articles but I'm a new guy here and not that computer savy--
I hope I'm in the right place posting this!!

Is that car still for sale and where are you/the car located??

Thanks

Frank

You're doing fine posting here. We often seem to get sidetracked here.

Hopefully 427Carl will chime in here. I think it was his neighbour who had the $2500 SS for sale.

Well-this thread sure took off in many directions !

Hate to rain on the parade or pick the bubble-I think giving a child a gift is great but honestly I fail to see how that could keep someone from staying away from drugs/booze. A $10,000 project by the time their 21 ?? I don't think that would be very significant to someone who is thinking about alcohol or drugs-by the time someone is 21 they should be able to buy their own $10,000 project if they even want it ! I spent a lot of time in the garage hustling though my teen years so 20 + years ago I gave Matt $15,700 for a big block corvette rag at the age of 19-no Daddy didn't give me any money and no I wasn't out drinking or doing drugs-that would have something more to due with the value you instil while raising them-so congrats on the idea but I highly doubt that in itself would be the ultimite deterant
