Oh Ya, that is very nice indeed. 327 was the most powerful engine in the 62's if I'm not mistaken.

Hmmm, how sure are you about that Ray?

I think the W engine guys may argue that with you. I'm not sure though.

Don't think the 348 was available in 62.

I used to say the same and then a while back someone on here posted that the W engine was available through till and including 65. I had thought they were only in 61, 64 and 65 before that.

As always, open for correction!

I had an older gentleman show me a 1962 slaes brochure this past summer at a cruise in and 327 was the top engine, it was dated 09/61 Oshawa. Of course a sales brochure is not the be all and end all.

I'm from Missouri......show me. I know there were no 348's but 409 in a 62 Canadian Pontiac??? Once again, the first they appear in a sales brochure is 1963.

327 was the largest engine offered in the 62 Canadian Pontiac. You could get the 348 in 61, and the 409 in 63, but neither in 62. The Chevrolet line was different: 409 was available in 62.

I haven't seen it in years but I'm pretty sure I still have a '62 brochure somewhere that shows the W-motors...maybe even w/ Pontiac script valve covers!.
I think I saw the same brochure on here a few months back...who was posting that motherload of brochures?.

Thank you John. Seems like we might have a controversy on Board, Ghost Post and C1 think we are wrong! confuse

Lets see the evidence boys! The best evidence would be an owner's manual or shop manual for the 1962 Canadian Pontiac.

I am quoting 409 Pontiac Guru here, Aubrey Bruneau from other websites:

"It was a 283 ( like virtually ALL Canadian Pontiacs of the era ). Was assembled by a fellow in Ontario. Of course, like all car 409's in 63-65, it should have chrome valve covers and air cleaner."

"Again, just trying to clarify, and possibly correct a mis-conception that seems to be being spread... that being, that Canadian 409 cars, are simply quirky, odd-ball 4 door cars.
I know of at least 8 more 1963-1965 Parisienne 2dr hardtops and rags... mostly stick cars"

confuse! OK, when I started this tread, it was all about the Wagon and since then we have veered off into a cubic inch melee!!! I like great minds hashing it out!!! Since I wasn't around when these mills were hot off the press, I am unsure of the whens, wheres and why-fors!!! My Dad told me he had a '58 Bel-Air special ordered for a GM guy in St. Johns, Nl with a 409, but as we know, although he did swear by it, it must have been a 348?
But, thanks to you guys, it has been both informative, amusing and I like being the fly on the wall here!! That being said, this is a pic out of the Master Parts Catalogue, '58-'68 Pontiac, #682 effective November 1967. Is this Gospel, of course not but just thought to toss this in!!! This states that the 409 didn't come out till '64..?
