1971, Last Canadian White Christmas

Environment Canada is reporting that this year will be the first White Christmas for the entire country since 1971!

Can you remember the car that you or you family drove to your Christmas celebrations that year?

Ours was a 1970 Pontiac Tempest 2 dr. post - 350 Pontiac V8, first year made and available in Canada. Just about the same as the pic only a post car.

Dad: 1970 Olds Cutlass S 2 door hardtop, still have it although it hasn't seen the light of day for a few years.

Mom: 1966 Impala 4 door sedan, long gone.

Oh ya, mom had a 4dr. 63 Acadian, it was an old Consumer's gas car, powder blue with white doors and roof, Dad sprayed the doors the powder blue in the driveway so it didn't look so bad!

We went to my Aunt's near today's Scarbourogh Town Center, it was like a forest up there, anyway my uncle had a 59 Laurentian, coral and white.

I was only 7 years old back then, we had a blue Plymouth Valiant slant six, great cars, I think it was a 1968 ? I sort of remember the huge snow banks that I used to climb and play on all the time and helping dad shovel the drive way as well...everything look bigger probably because I was small too LOL ! There was alot of 64 Impalas and Parisienne in the good old days.

this pict was taken july 71 in cultus lake BC. there would have been 2 adults and 5 kids between the ages 4 to 10 and 2 toy poodles in the 67 beaumont wagon as we made the trek to vancouver to spend christmas with my dad brother, uncle harold and aunt karen. everybody was a transplant from ont except for my youngest brother, he was born in chilliwack. what interesting about this pict is the girl i'm standing with, was born on the same day and same hospital in ottawa. we were in the same grade 1 and 2 class in vedder crossing. many years later i found out she and my wife also went to school together in ottawa.

In '71 I was 16 and drivin' junk for the most part. Living in just outside Halifax Nova Scotia. I had a '64 Comet Caliente convertible at Christmas time. Man, that was a long time ago for me!
My folks had a '70 Ford Custom 500. A car I DO remember well because it rusted away by '74. The Ford's of that era really seemed to go bad fast in the salt air of Nova Scotia
