I was 14 then. We had the only nearly new car we ever owned, a 68 Chevrolet Bel-Air 4 dr sedan with a 307 V8. My father sold it in the summer of 71, and replaced it with a $100.00 64 Parisienne 4 dr ht, 283, auto that my mother drove; and he also put our old 62 Meteor back on the road for himself (the Meteor was a sturdy car but terribly underpowered with a 170 cid 6 and 3 spd standard trans).

OK Carl, tell me it ain't so-Did this car go to the Hamilton area ? I used to date a girl in the 1980's her older brother had the same car,color,options-he was from Welland but moved to Hamilton for work after he split with his first wife-any chance I know of yet another of your old rides ?
Christmas 1971 I was three years old-Dad drove a 1962 Biscayne two door 283 powerglide, saddle tan on tan with rubber floor mats ! I remember the rubber floor mats storey because that spring Dad bought a 1966 Malibu SS and it had carpets ! marina blue with a black vinyl roof, blue bucket seats, console, 283 powerglide-that was my ride the first day of school !
Easy to recall. I bet we had the newest car of all of you!
My dad had died 3 years before and my mom picked up her 72 Malibu about 10 days before Christmas. I was 14. I wanted her to buy at least a Heavy Chevy, but no, we had to buy a Malibu 4 door sedan, 307 powerglide, no ps, no pb, no radio, bowtie baby moon factory hubcaps, HD suspension, forced air rear defog, remote mirror and a block heater. That was it for options. I think I still have the bill of sale for it somewhere here. Somewhere around $3300 I think.
She sold that car in 1985 with 67,000 miles on it, still original paint. We'd had the bottoms of both front fenders fixed because they had very minor bubbles. The rest of the car was still solid.
Boy I tortured that poor old 307 when I flipped the air cleaner lid over on it.....

Ray, you are amazing, even though I didn't mention it, you even got the colours right, one problem though, the Olds pictured is a 69, but close enough!
