Someone must have a book with a picture of this car. You'll guess the tail light in an instant if you have the pic.

  I'll guess,   Chevy II?

No correct answer yet that I know of. The answer is a what vehicle, and where/when.

Didn't the first muscle car get the first Hurst Competition Plus? The 1964 GTO

What diff is standard equipment in Hemi cars?

Dana 60

No, I have a different answer again. I am no Dodge expert but I think I have this one correct.

I'm looking at a 1970 Rapid Transit System sales brochure and it lists for the Hemi "Extra heavy duty Dana built 9 3/4" dia. ring gear. Granted this is a Plymouth brochure.

Tonight I was watching the replay of last year's Barrett-Jackson and they had a segment where one of their experts was describing all of the muscle rear ends and he said that all of the hemi and 440 cars came with the 9 3/4" Dana rear end. So if I saw it on B-J, it must be true right? rofl.gif

Well, for sure then we know it's wrong......!!!

I will see if I can find it. I read that a 426 automatic had the 8 3/4" as standard equipment, Dana 60 optional AND that a 426 4 speed had a Dana 60 as standard equipment.

Ray,

I was reading through sorting out all these unanswered questions and I read this post.

I owe you a public apology. I did not mean that "we know for sure it's wrong" because you said so. I meant that if Barrett Jackson says so, then we know for sure it's wrong! I read this now and thought "man, that didn't come out right"!

I am sorry, that was not meant to sound like I was talking about you.

I think this one is waiting for a winner.

Banshee - 1964, Banshee II - 1968, Banshee Fiero - 1969

Hmm. Not the answer I was wanting. I'm sure you are right though. There is another show car for 68 that is in private hands.  It is a two word name.

This answer is very cool!

The Owners name, to celebrate the 50th Anneversary

Isn't that neat? I love that. How cool would it be to order a new car and it comes with your name on the steering wheel.

Small chevy identified by the balancer size?

Ummm, I guess some but there was a bigger balancer on the L79 for sure, and I think even on the 275 horse 327 as well. Didn't just the 283 use the dinky one?

Anyway, that could be correct but there is another foolproof way with the one exception as noted and it also identifies a small journal, just is visually different than the difference I mean.   Confused?

Cavallier Z24 P215/60R-14 tires

In the mid to late 60's Carl. That would have to be a VERY early Cavalier you are talking about!

Sorry, sixtywagon beat you to the answer, "Chevy II" a bit earlier.

They look like 62-64 Chevy II tailights, pretty sure they are identical.

Nope, 2 separate words. First word is Grand or Grande, not sure of the spelling. Second word is a name not used ever before or since by Pontiac as far as I know.

I saw the story on this car years ago in Car Review. I think the guy bought it not knowing it was a one-off car.

What 67 Pontiac 400 HO engine component(s) were shared with a 455SD Firebird?

There is a specific one I am looking for and would like to have an accurate description of the similarity.

Tough one. Correct answer is camshaft. The one difference being the phyiscal size of the distributor gear on each one, but the specs are the same.

Are you sure about this Carl?  To my knowledge 67 used used the 068 camshaft while the SD used the 744 camshaft.  What is your source?

You are right. I said HO but should have said Ram Air. The profile on the cam was the same on 67 Ram Air 400 and SD 455, correct?
