Tell me about it ,you have to build the car for yourself, not what everyone else says is right.I agree with Stephenzone,Barrett Jackson is ruining it for the real car hobbiests. And like me ,hes not affraid to cut up rare old car.
hey wait, that bs'o'meter has the wrong redline for a bbc car?? must be a fake!hahaha!
i couldnt sit on the sidelines reading this thread any longer without reponding... when it comes to original, as far as i'm concerned, its only original once... a restamp is just a counterfeit, and paying $1500 to counterfeit a block is only there to try to deceit someone out of their $$$ when it comes time to sell and claim its original... this is 'acceptable' in the corvette marketplace, not in chevelles...
in terms of "staying with the big boys"? sounds like all of hack hotrodders are only a $1500 restamp away of joining the big boy club!hahaha! what a joke.
well, this is just a good debate about the hobby, just in the wrong thread...

$1500 ????? wHere have you been going ? Theres a guy down here does it for the Corvette big boys $100-a little more if you need the casting changed, good supply of blocks too
There was a link on flea bay the other day...didn't last long, but there is a company out there that will restamp anything you want....together with the fake build sheets....date coded cars may be tough to sell as authentic. If you look at BJ...some of the restomods were gettng far more than the factory original restos...most people like to drive them. Personally...I could give a R'sAss about numbers cars....
Hi Ken, I haven't been going anywhere! I'll just leave mine decked!haha! I was quoting 427stratos price, maybe you should send him the link to your contact! Then the counterfeiters can save the difference ($1300+/-) for an LS6 distributor!
Well i'm double deep sixed...i know my car isn't all original and to a lot of people it's not even a classic. It's what i was looking for though. I wish i had the cash to have an example that doesn't need resto work, i'll probably pay for that in the end, but i'll get my hands dirty and learn about the mechanics as i go. Unlike a lot here i'm new to working on my car and, with some help, i'm looking forward to learning a lot. I think that there's a market for every car, be it totally original, modified or whatever. There's always someone who will like what you have and wish they had it. I feel lucky that, while not perfect or all original and mint, i have it. Room for everyone in the hobby which is great. More power to those with the cash to spend the big bucks. I do love to look at an all original survivor car, let's you see how it was put together in the day. Meanwhile the craftsmanship that goes into a good resto or mod is also worth the price. As long as we have some fun, and burn some rubber.
Good thoughts... We need everyone in the hobby.... We are pleased, that you are having fun, with your car, and we hope you, will keep doing it and pass on the bug to more folks

There is no need to hang your head because you don't have the perfect 100 point all numbers match car! We all buy what we like and we can afford.
There is no shame in that.

I'm definately not hanging my head, don't you worry. I'll enjoy the car no matter what. To paraphrase the line from the movie American Beauty that Kevin Spacey utters about buying a Trans Am...his was a 70...
i now have a 1982 Trans Am, the car i've always wanted...i rule!
"Spacey is unmarried and vehemently protects his private life, about which very little is known. This generated tabloid press rumors that he might be gay"
Oooops.
Didn't Burt Reynolds have anything to say about a Trans Am?

WHAT HE SAID WEIRD POSTING I WONDER IF IT CAN JUST BE TAKEN OFF LEAVE A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH. DIDNT EXPECT THIS POST TO GO WHERE IT DID IT TO BAD CAUSE SINCE IVE BEEN ON HEAR THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST NEGATIVE ITS GOTTEN YET .
Everyone on here loves cars, even though we might not agree on the right way to build one.
can't start censoring because we or anybody disagrees. this is a open forum and we are going to get a wide spread on opinions and thats what i like about that. i'm not worried about anybodies opinion, because i can take the heat. one little statement sure got some blood boiling
did ya hear thou that i picked up a complete 409 motor less the heads for 300
