Ray my sunroof was manual too. I did like the steering wheel in it and i remember the X11 in the horn centre. Mine was an automatic. The guy i bought it from worked in London at GM diesel. Went there to have a look at the car. He wanted to show me what it could do so we got in and did he ever through that thing around the parking lot! I didn't really like the coupe, i preferred the my hatchback but i guess those coupes were the real racers. Still, if i hadn't found the Trans Am i may have gone looking for another X-11.
OK, this will sound dumb-it just left on Monday-I sold it in September to a guy working on the canal ships-I looked at it today when I dropped off some license plate light lenses and other things needed to drive it home ! yes he's driving it to Dartmouth tommorrow morning-it runs great, showed me it on the hoist most of the floors and rear frame rails still wear their original black paint ! this one surely sat inside forever and likely never seen any salt-with the car came a set of restored 8 inch snowflake wheels/new tires/nuts/caps-the pictures clearly don't do it any justice but this was a very worthy project-and likely one of the most famous movie cars of all time-I never really had much interest in them but the more I look at them and realize they are 30 + years old-I kinda like them-for the measley $3200 I got not to mention three payments and storing it since september I really should have kept it-theres no doubt there is no better 78 out there for that money, 400, auto, A/C, T-tops,pw,pl,pt,am/fm, etc... I watched the movie the other night with the kids-should have kept one-the other I sold in August was a black/black 400 4-speed t-top A/C, 77 SE ! needed more work but the real thing
Darkmouth is in Nova Scotia He driving it in this slop? WOW
Yes Nova Scotia, I always thought it was Dartmouth-I can't believe he's going to drive it-thats gotta be 1000 miles or more (kinda like the movie !) maybe he's using it as a blocker for a transport running illegal booze or something ! His girlfriend flew in here to ride back with him-this car has been sitting since 2001-he dumped a little gas in the carb, turned it over, fired right up, choked worked and all, he changed all the fluids, checked the brakes (the rear drums still had the lock rings from the factory ! original brakes ! the odometer reads 71,000 kms ) changed the idler arm, fuel pump, then he assembled the exterior trim and interior just so he wouldn't have a truck load of parts in this little car
You are right We need "spell check" Its 1100 MILES to Sackville N.B. (where I go) and 165 MILES further to Dartmouth.... hope the heater works..... Did He get snows for the trip through Quebec? lol

Sorry I wasn't trying to correct your spelling-anyway-I asked him about the snow tire thing and he said "he's just passing through" its only for residents ? I'm pretty sure the A/C doesn't work ! not sure how good the heater will be-he changed the antifreeze but the blower fans often get dirty in them and lock up-sure should be interesting ! too bad about all the salt it'll be exposed too. Hope he actually does the car up right rather than ruining it.
I drove my '78 black Trans Am from Woodstock Ontario to Myrtle Beach in the winter of '79-80. That was when the movie was in full swing, and those cars were hot . Driving down in the snow was a treat, but it was loved everywhere. Especially south of the Mason-Dixon line. Truckers always honked, flashed lights and waved. One of the cars that is burned in my memory forever.
Two cars come to mind; the first was my 1969 428CJ Mustang, shaker, 4 speed, 3.50 gears. Red with red guts, black hood, black trim. I bought the car in '71 for $2500 bucks and sold it 4 years later for $2500. The second my 70 LS6 Chevelle. Cortez silver with black guts, black stripes, cowl induction, 4 speed, bench seat. I must need my head read.....

Still get heartsore about the 1954 TR2 (example) that I practily gave away as a young, single and broke person in 1966! It had a black fibreglass rooftop to be used in place of ragtop. These are the life's school fees that you pay!

At my age (59) I would have to carry carpeting with me, so I could get down on my knees, to get in and roll out lol

Would be cool if he took pics of his trip and emailed them for you to post.
66 Grande Parisienne 4door HT. Green, 327, Power windows, hell, even the clock worked. Odo read 25,000 miles but there was evidence that the engine had been repainted so who knows. The interior was immaculate. Purchased in 1986 for $350 from a nice little old lady from Sask. Sold it in 88 for $1000 trade in value for a minivan. *sigh* Last seen in Coquitlam B.C. ...baby come back :(
hmmm.... i still have the first car i ever bought, and never really wanted anything different, except for a 57 bel-air 2dr HT... but there's probably 2 cars after that i never should have let go, when i was the first one to look at them... but i had no spare $$ in those days!
- 1969 T/A raIII, orig paint, block tossed a rod in '77, never saw the sun since, 30,000mi. $3500 in around 1989
- 1968 z28 RS, CE shortblock, orig paint, wheels, spare tire etc., low miles, $7000 in around 1992
Both of those cars were very good buys and rare even for the time... dayyyum!!!
Like Tiny, I loved my '78 Impala 4-door. Snot Green on Snot Green. My buddy named it the "Gump Mobile" because it was "forest green" in colour. I had a '75 Monte Carlo that belonged to my Grandmother. Gave it to a friend that was going to do the body on it to give to his girlfriend. He then sold it to a guy for a "Demo Derby" car. I still haven't forgot about that one.
The one I miss the most is my first Chevelle convertible. 1968 Malibu, Island teal on blue interior and blue top. Factory bucket seat car with no console, 230 6 cyl with a glide. P/S, power top. Had the original bill of sale, protecto-.... GM of Canada documentation etc...
Sold it for the love of a woman and to pay off the loan on my other 69 Chevelle hardtop. Needless to say...Car is gone....Woman is gone... Money is gone.
Sold it to a guy in Kings Cove, Nova Scotia named Harley Rhodes. A friend of mine went to a family get together not far from there in the late 90's. He contacted him and was told he gave the car to his son and it was not for sale. That's why I bought my current ragtop. Closest thing to my'68 I could find.
