Barrett-Jackson this year

Coverage on Speed begins a week from tonight.  I've had a quick look at the Friday-Sat.-Sunday offerings and quite frankly, I'm not impressed.  I didn't see one hemi car and just one Boss 429.  I guess the smart guys with rare cars are staying home this year.  There seems to be a lot of "plain jane" muscle cars and a lot of recent stuff (10 years old and newer) this year, plus the GM heritage collection and a lot of cars that have been used on TV shows, customizing shows, etc., in other words, a lot of fabricated glitz but not a lot of stuff with "pedigrees".  As always, I will pretty well have the TV tuned to Speed for most of next week as I am a sucker for seeing the cars and what they go for.

Agree. Who would possibly bid on one of these ugly machines?
I'll be watching, but what will most interest me this year is what the "affordable" cars - the Tuesday/Weds/Thurs lots go for. I'm interested in the high dollar machines but I'm not in that market.

Do you think its true, that B-J has a collection of cars, they run through and bid up the prices?   They then put cars back in storage...

Im sure the B-J experience is a sham, if your not buddies with the guy, so sorry. Weve all seen in our times really nice low mile orig. cars for sale and they aint no 65grand and up. Seems like the more cars a consignor bring there, the farther up the food chain they go. The more you spend, the closer you get to the stage, lots of politics and favors Im sure

sure, I think there are fake "sale" cars and shill bidders throughout the whole place.  they have to keep up appearances you know, so they can continue to charge outrageous rates to Speed, and Speed can charge outrageous rates to the advertisers, etc.

One vehicle I'm looking forward to seeing:

http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/index.spark?forumID=118110&p=3&topicID=23571687

I also want to see how reality has set in ... a friend of mine went to a huge antique car auction in Pennsylvania this summer, and they ushered people, without paying the extra fee, to sit in the front rows to put bums in seats for the cameras.
