What is your favourite styling feature from the 60's/70's?

Man, I just love the styling of cars with hide-away headlights.  It has got to be my all time favourite styling feature from the 60's.  I can't think of a car from any of Big 3 that didn't look great with hidden headlights and that I wouldn't mind owning.

The dash of the 1960 Chryslers is my all time favorite. Dubbed "Astra Dome" I believe an AC invertor was used to make the needles glow. I saw my first 60 Chrysler dash when I was a kid. I remember it clearly. The car was parked at a "Dominion" grocery store and I thought it looked like something out of a science fiction movie.

stripes-decals

somehow the car always looks better with the optional stripes-strange you would almost think it would be tacky but I can't think of one that I don't like

I think the 60's full size Pontiacs from about 60 to 66 had the most beautiful dash appearance and layout. The later ones are nice but they went away from the excessive chroming, the part I loved the most.

I liked the rolling speedo on my 66 toronado, and the body style with the pop-up headlights, I called it my "Overgrown Corvette"

The car that really knocked me out as a kid was the 63 Corvette coupe. It looked like a car of the future, especially when it was sitting on the street among all the other cars of the day. Hideaway headlights, swoopy fenders, split window with the spine down the middle, there was nothing like it on the road. Maybe custom cars in the magazines but not on the road.

I was going to write Hide-away Headlights before I even opened the thread.

As well as Dashes, Stripes, Hideaways...I love the Sail Panels on the back windows of 1966-67 A body and 68-69 Dodge Chargers and finally Corvettes. Also love the variations of so many cubic inch V8's. I forgot about the beautiful Rally Wheels and hubcaps of the 60's and early 70's.

I'm with you on the hideaway headlights as a favorite on just about everything except maybe the mid 70s full sized Mopar and Ford/Mercury where they didn't quite work. My own favs are the 68 - 69 Caprice, and the 67 - 68 Grand Prix/Parisienne, 70-71 Plymouth Fury.

I like the variety. Cars were restyled every 2 years. There was always the excitement of a new model year.
The last 25-30 years- who gives a @#%&?

Yup, nothing will ever replace vent windows for efficiency, but I guess a lot of people complained about the wind noise, and the designers came up with the new upper level ventilation!  An extremely rare option on 70's is to have this power assisted, not quite A/C but better than nothin'!

Scoops/gills/vents on the hood or sides of the cars. I also like some of the badging back then.
