RE: URBAN LEGEND.. DEAD GUY IN CORVETTE ..WHATS THE BEST ONE YOU'VE HEARD ?

Hanging around in a gas station in Winnipeg one night two guys where having a whizzing match about who knew who with a faster car. One guy topped the other when he said his buddy's 390 4 speed Torino turned 12,000 RPM until the bellhousing came right through the hood........... Sure glad I never met that car at a red light and tried to beat him!

I may not be 100% accurate on the Torino or 390, this was about 25+ years ago, but I can clearly recall the 12,000 RPM and the bellhousing through the hood!!!

I remember about 15 years ago you could get surplus military Chevy crate 350's for next to nothing. I also seem to recall complete 4x4 pickups selling dirt cheap too. Anyone around here remember the details?

Another is the guy who brags about the (insert make, model and engine here) that was so fast he could put a $50 bill on the dash and you would be pinned so hard in your seat you couldn't reach it!

I heard Caroll Shelby say that on a national TV interview years ago, only he used a $100 bill and said it was his Cobra 427SC. That's likely how it got started.

I thought my car was fast until I was in his car. Now I wrench on the motor out of it my buddy Mike put it in his Chevelle. Pretty cool feeling knowing I was the punk ass teenager dreaming of working on cars like that now I have my own shop and list of in your face F*ck you cars life has been great. Now that I got a great Ol lady I must say I have had a great life so far.

I keep hearing the story of a crashed 69 COPO Camaro sitting in a shed forever within reasonable distance of here. Wish a guy could confirm or disprove that one. Sounds like another urban legend but you never know..........

Hey 427Carl, Figures that Dave would have it! I stopped to see him last spring. He has some nice Corvette's still.
